And no, HS players don't play year around, but college players are on it way more than you think and pro players are on it a lot. What about our MLS goalies, why don't they have it? Thanks for playing, now run along.
Do you really think football players get more exposure than goalies? to the dust particles? Football players have more skin protection and a helmet. A goalie is diving continuously to the ground. Soccer is played year around. Football is seasonal mainly fall, How many of our youth football players practice on turf for hours a day in July & Aug. Fall brings cooler temperatures and rain to control the dust.

Does anyone know why they water down the Timbers/Thorns turf before the game and at half time? Obviously, turf radiates heat more, but does it have anything to do with controlling the turf pellets and or dust?

If you knew anything about college sports, like football and soccer, you would know that the big time programs play and practice on grass, not artificial turf. Same for professional sports, except for the Timbers. Have you not heard of the suit in Canada to prevent 2015 Women's World Cup players against playing on artificial turf, (not for health reasons).? My DD plays in the PAC-12 and I pretty much know how much they practice and play. You are an ill-informed wannabe that knows essentially nothing.

If she is, I want you to put your goalies in white or even light colored socks for two hours of goalie training in August on turf. By the time the training is over you have to just about throw their socks away because they are so discolored by the dust in the turf. I know because i have experienced this. And let me note it was on a field built less than five years ago.

I have spoke to a Chemical Engineer and asked what their opinion is from a chemical stand point not medical. They feel it is the dust more so than ingesting crumb rubber. Your body usually does a better job of ingesting things then breathing it in. From a chemical stand point the lungs is the target organ.

The most of the dust is a result of Crumb rubber, breaking down from weather, expanding & contracting, and field use. That is why it is so hard to get out of the socks.
Perhaps it is not the turf at all. Perhaps their is another common denominator? If it was the turf you would be seeing incidents in football players too.

In any case, if you are that concerned I suggest you find another sport for your DD. Statistics show your DD chances of being killed in a car crash is much higher. Are you going to stop riding in cars? Life is a risk.

Oh, stay away from cell phones too. I heard they can give you cancer too.

You have absolutly nothing to add. I had no idea that all of these indoor practice facilities that many NFL and college teams use for their year around practices could grow grass. Have you been to the Seahawks indoor facility? I have. It's turf. And please, compare us to socialist Canada in terms of legal actions. Now go eat some pellets with your daughter. It will be a nice break from the grass you two normally eat.

Oh, we've heard of it. Most baseless lawsuit ever, claiming discrimination based on gender. Won't go anywhere, if it's even gets a hearing before next summer. The position of most Canadians is "if you don't like it, stay home". Absolutely no other country, not even the USA, wanted to host the 2015 Women's World Cup. What does that tell you about the leverage the players have?

Exactly. A lawsuit over discrimination has nothing to do with health concerns over turf.

I worked at Les Schwab for 20 years 12 hrs a day

All I know is the smell of rubber. I touch it 100's of times a day. Sometimes I even get some rubber in my teeth.

Well, you started correctly - "I had no idea...". College teams, football or soccer, do not even remotely use indoor facilities year the around. They practice outdoors on actual grass. Once again you expose your sheer ignorance. I hope you don't have children, or if you do, that they are in the custody of their mother. Exposing children to your volume of sheer ignorance could be life threatening.
