Actually a good question since they are going to single birth year. I would say that officially they would be '03 but since it'll be the youngest group there could be some '04's.

No the 2003's would be with the '02's at u14 since they are not u12. Then single birth year starts with u12 which would be '04.

All correct except the U12 will still be a double age group making it 04's and 05's.

Oh great, the DA's do such a good job of developing players so why don't we get them even younger kids. For example, Clearwater Chargers to be specific, are horrendous at developing top players. Youth coaches are not good and it is an environment of who you know and not based on merit.

It's not fair to pass judgement on a nationwide program because you dislike what happens at 1 club. The DA program is not perfect. It is certainly a work in progress, and there is no doubt that it is better than what was available before it. Getting boys at a younger age is exactly what is needed to build the proper foundation and make sure they are learning the correct way to play early on.

So in summary, the answer is 2004s and 2005s, but not 2003s.

Correct. 03's will be part of the U13/14 DA along with 02's beginning in August on 2016.

Not many current Aug-Dec 03s from OC will make that U13/14 DA.

Not the OP but the academy coaches need a certain level of that bs coaching qualification to be able to coach the academies and most of the really good coaches that are foreign or retired don't ever take the time to get that level so they just stick to club soccer.

The sad part about U12 DA is that it will do nothing at all. Most of the Pre-Academy teams in those age groups do basically the same thing, play the same old Weston, Kendall, TBU and ect. U12 DA is just an attempt by USSDA to pretend they are developing players but the funny part is the best players on current U16/U18 DA rosters were stolen from other local clubs and in MLS/Shattucks case, recruited. Just leave the development alone and fix the scouting process of the national teams. If you get a chance to watch some of the youth national teams play on youtube, its painfully evident how some of the players don't have any business being in their position and if your kid has been playing at a high level you've seen players that should be on the national team but are overlooked. They are even overlooking kids who are scoring 20-25 goals a season in their beloved league. They can't even get a camp! The talent is certainly out their for the US, it just needs to be found and guided.
