Either Trump didn’t want to listen or he wanted to spoon feed the bad news by pushing the date out further and further. Either way, the American people deserved the truth so people took this seriously and prepared. So Trump can say Easter, or April 30, or May 15; but the reality is that this will be with us into June; and if you believe the experts, who haven’t been wrong so far, it will probably flare up again the fall.

This US Club Soccer CEO is paid to lead and make decisions on facts, not politician promises. He’s just spoon feeding ridiculous dates like Trump so that the member clubs and tournament organizers won’t have to make refunds, or at least not full refunds, for the Spring. It’s all a game, but not in the best interests of players or families.
Well said. It’s over. Schools across the country have cancelled the rest of the school year, cancelled proms and graduations. Colleges are changing their policies so that the 2021s are exempt from taking the ACT/SAT. The Olympics is cancelled. Other major events overseas through JULY are all cancelled. It doesn’t matter if the wave is supposed to come through your town at the end of April, we are not a closed country, we are not going to just go back to life as usual for a long long time. It’s absolutely reckless and irresponsible to wait for Trump to make the call. People have to use their common sense, eyes, and ears to see what’s going on around the world and realize it’s over. Stop protecting the clubs, worse case scenario is here, it’s refund time.

The Olympics are cancelled because it is only starting in some other countries/areas of the world. They involve the world not just US.

Youth soccer may be scheduled regionally as this slows down.

With several states already cancelling school for the rest of the year, reopening youth sports is hardly a priority or seen as justified. Clubs are just waiting for the final word on the season being cancelled to start giving refunds (if they can)

So why after acknowledging that these are tough times and safety is the most important thing in the letter does he not just show leadership and say the season’s over and do the honorable thing and advocate for clubs to give refunds?
          Answer as always: $$$

The real soccer issue is fall not spring season. The Trump horror show hasn’t even started.

Wall Street and Trump have already stated profits over lives. The only silver lining if worse case scenario of mass murder of half a million+ is unprecedented revenge on the one percenters.

Perhaps, but I think during days of doom and gloom some are trying to stay optimistic. It is possible that things could resume in some parts of the country by late May but any kind of multi state play and certainly tournaments will be out. We'd all love to see some normalcy, but we also know that if the data isn't there then cancelling is totally appropriate.

Read his optimistic predictions and failure to prepare . If people are wondering why Mass is one of the worst hit states in the country, read above above. Yep, there really are people THAT stupid.

The flu season starts in september. Covid's been here a couple of weeks, we have shut down and forced almost the entire country to stay home and it is going blow past regular flu in a week or two. I know math can be difficult but you dont have to be Will Hunting to understand this one.

A few sad cases, like the 31 year old in the Globe. Mostly its folks past their expiration date. Earth is awesome, it has a wonderful ability to regulate itself. Population Pruning

Are you that insensitive? Been a long time since US was christian centric. You need to become more current with social norms. My kids would tell you to get woke.

Agreed. At this point, if you trust your eyes and ears it’s not necessary to play math games either. NYC doctors and nurses are probably are used to seeing a lot of bad things. If you listen to their stories and look at their faces and the video of the tent hospitals in Central Park and makeshift morgues, they sound and look pretty scared to me. I’m sure the normal flu season doesn’t get that kind of reaction.

To anyone who wants to dismiss this whole thing as being overblown, then why don’t you go down to your local hospital ER and volunteer to help out with the Covid-19 patients?

120 hospital staff infected at B&W right here. That's just one hospital.
