NPL is dead in the Northeast

    https://myemail.constantcontact.com/...id=VwG46ex-euc

The above announcement means that all of the NJ/NY/CT NPL clubs that NEP met at Regional events are no longer associated with US Club Soccer or NPL.

Combine this with the fact that top teams already left for MLS, GA, ECNL and National League, the NEP is now a local, lower level league with meaningless pathways and opportunities.

NEP was in trouble before. They're on life support now.

And that makes it better how? Think of the strong NPLs from around the country and tell me that the developments over the last few months don’t kill the pathway.

The irony is one US Club organization (ECNL) killed the other US Club organization off.

That league is quickly becoming locusts. Killing off all other leagues and competition and leaving shlt in it's wake. Meanwhile, undeserving clubs remain as being part of their original foundation. Soccer as a whole suffers.

But what about the federation’s handling of the youth landscape?

One of the key things that held NEP together was the opportunity to earn (or more rightly, be given) access to NPL. Now that the NPL pathway is crumbling almost overnight, NEP has literally no hope for the future. NEP has come full circle and is now what it came from, which is MAPLE/NSL/CCL -- just a local league with a bunch a sh*t teams. The irony is incredible.

In what way is that a good thing?

This was the problem all along. Clubs were given access and it was closed to most clubs.

You see there are many people that are on this site that want nothing more than to see each league (other than ECNL) fail. It brings them joy to see the options for kids in the area get whittled down to nothing. Really sad.

You appear to be correct. I never understood the fascination with activities that have no direct affect on me; what others are doing.

What of it? I thought this was about US Club Soccer?

Not the poster but fewer leagues means fewer places for clubs to hide. It would also make it more transparent so families can figure it out (how many threads on this site alone ask for clarification? and it changes every year!). Fewer so called top leagues means more clubs and players in lower level leagues where they should be, rather than traveling across states just for games.
