Absolutely no way. HA can barely keep the lights on let alone cover the costs of training youth players, 99.999999% of which will never get them a payday

So why are they even talking about an "academy" - is this just one more money grab targeting the youth soccer market here in CT?

Uh, you do know that OW and Beachside were both "academy" and both charged to play right????

Exactly. Inly about 1/3 of BDA clubs were free, all the rest pay to play. In their early days Hartford can't justify spending a penny on youth programs, let alone with Covid financial pressures. This isn't like when NYCFC started with huge financial backing and largecity location.

If anything Hartford could use the money generated from youth training, even if they just start with supplemental programs and camps.

Yes. That is why I referred to this as just another money grab situation in youth soccer here in CT.

NYCFC, NYRB, and NE Revs are pro clubs with free academies. Our State's best players will continue to go there.

Sounds nice, but HA is supposed to be fielding a team for USL tournaments. So who is going to play? - I doubt OW and BS will release players.

Despite free and an MLS academy, revs are a pitiful mess.

HA in 2 years will have all the best CT boys. They will bury FSA Oakwood and CFC

Because it's not just about being free but what the club puts into it. Revs = no effort, no money, poor coaching for the first team and academy. This despite obvious very deep owner pockets.

Hartford = very shallow pockets. They can probabaly run something at a very reduced price, but not free + parents cover travel.

Hartford Athletic has a solid facility and good location. They will be able to attract top talent if they can show that is a better program than any other boys. They will need to grab a few top coaches.
