So if you are so certain of your position, why are you so angry about it? Why care about another club? Again, if you have a good team and good coach, and a chance at the top national competition, it sounds good to me.
Agree. It continuously just shows the surf parents insecurities as to what they are getting into. It may work out for them, we were not willing to give up a chance of a bad year after having no spring. So we switched to a known proven entity.

That original rant saying, "It is hard for Surf to gain credibility when they make false statements such as these" isn't some insecure parent at Surf, it's some coach who's insecure ABOUT Surf.

Yet it is true that some Surf coaches did originally talk about DPL and that it was on their Website. I was at GPS and can tell you that was the case. I'm sure it was mixed-messaging but still happened.

Most cfc regional teams would kill their ecrl teams. The ecrl teams are out of Bethany and, by default bad b teams. Most regional teams are Hartford and north and many families were not willing to commute to Bethany from there .....even for ecnl (especially on the boys side where their ecnl teams are God awful because of it). Get your facts straight.

No east coast showcases through DPL. Only showcases they have in place are Atlanta, Dallas and Southern CA.

EDP will have showcases in NJ, CT & MA. Where do you think the opportunities will really lie?
90% of kids go to school with 2 hours of their home. Where do you think the opportunities will really be? You already mentioned that DPL is the really lowly rated 2nd option for a really lowly GA league ..... How good do you really think GA will be? Then, DPL should be leaps and bounds worse no? Gheez, with USSF backing GDA was terrible, now they got nothing.

I hope we can drop the EDP comparison, there is no comparison.

For those of you interested more in DPL:

The Development Player League (DPL) is designed to expand the Girls Academy (GA) player pool for participating clubs. The league creates a highly professional training environment and competitive model for aspiring (GA) players, bridging the gap between club soccer and (GA) soccer.

The DPL provides a clear pathway for players who show the potential to make the jump to the (GA) level of play. The DPL teams will offer players who excel to have the opportunity to be called up as a Development Player for their respective Girls Academy teams.

DPL representatives – including commissioner Sean Carey – have stated they are currently being “inundated with requests from clubs to expand the DPL from all areas of the country.”

In addition to competing against each other in league play, DPL teams have also competed in many of the nation’s top college showcase events, where they have won divisions against members of the ECNL, US Youth Soccer National League and other high-level national or regional leagues. As an example, in 2019 the Dallas Texans DPL 2005 Girls swept the Jefferson Cup‘s Elite Orange Division against A-teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.

Expansion over the past couple years has increased the reach of the DPL from an initial group of DA Southwest Conference clubs to a point where it now plays in three regions across the country: West, Southwest and East. Competition spans across the U13-U19 age groups including 144 teams from 24 clubs, but those numbers will likely increase significantly in the near future as the new Girls Academy League takes shape.

Although the DPL’s Girls Academy League will be primarily composed of former DA clubs, it will not be strictly limited to them. The DPL has stated that it will continue to provide its clubs with flexibility in the following two key areas:

*Permission for all players in the Girls Academy League to participate in high school soccer.
Revising the substitution rules to encourage clubs to better utilize their player pools, especially when showcasing their players to college coaches.
In addition, the new Academy League will feature cross-conference matches, college showcases and a National Championship Series for the 2020-2021 season.

The release from DPL leadership states:

“We strongly believe that strong leadership from some of the most talented organizations in our country will be able to maneuver these difficult times and unite, providing our players with a league and showcase platform that will exceed the level of the DA through clear communication, honest feedback and loyalty to our membership. As disappointed as we are in the decision from our Federation, we feel we have a unique opportunity to take the reins and introduce a more collaborative approach to player development.”

The launch of the DPL’s new Academy venture is likely to play an influential role in the national youth soccer landscape, since its organized by many of the highest-level clubs in the country. Based heavily in Southern California and Texas, it encompasses many clubs which produce an inordinate percentage of U.S. Youth National Team and professional players.
DPL is going to be utter trash for kids who can't make crappy ga or hs varsity.

Get your posts straight. This discussion is about DPL and EDP. As DPL is girls only boys side is irrelevant. Fact is that vast majority of top CFC players are either on ECNL or ECRL.

Another ignorant post from Team Surf. No one knows for sure where any of the leagues land (aside from ECNL) after next year. What we do know in New England is that after ECNL national and GDA teams the best clubs are playing in DPL next year. After that we parents can reevaluate and choose what is best for our children. We know that this past summer is clear indication that most club directors / coaches are not interested in what is best for the kids.

ECNL then regional .... ECRL teams at CFC and in general are trash. Regional is better at CFC. Threw in the boys info for free so shut your trap .... Point is, many in northern CT do not want to travel to Bethany to play for cfcu so they do not.

You probably wish you had a reasonable drive for a dpl opportunity. Sorry it did not work out.
Enjoy edp, let us genuinely know how things work out during the fall.

Will do and we'll see you in a year when the DPL collapses.

Nah, this is flat-out wrong. My kids don't play there, but we know some of the coaches and there are definitely soccer guys (and gals).
