The sources said that the new league will include Under-13, -14, -15, -17 and -19 age groups. MLS teams will be required to field U-15 and U-17 squads, but it will be up to individual clubs if they want to field teams in the other four age groups. The league is also considering an Under-16 division, though there are no current plans for it to be included in the first season.

Exact details of the competition structure are being worked out, but the sources expect that the platform will be divided into separate MLS and non-MLS divisions. Multiple sources said that it’s likely that MLS academies will primarily play other MLS academies, and non-MLS clubs will primarily play against each other in their own circuit.

Impressive list of clubs - this is clearly the top level in the States. I see some early USL participation in the list, and I would imagine the USL clubs will continue to join as they mature. In the end, an all-pro academy league is in the making.

Not sure about the B league comment. I would imagine that the non-mls clubs decided to join under the condition that they not be placed in lower division....

Where does that put Boys ECNL teams? C league at best, probably D league. And how about NPL or EDP? Z league?

ECNL made their bed with their bullsh!t on the girls side. They can suck it on the boys side.

Oakwood, Beachside, Seacoast, Bolts are Not in the same class as MLS clubs in this league. It is the same as before.
                Devil is in details.
MLS only required to field u15, u17 for this league
These are feeder clubs for MLS.
What will MLS do with u19’s and where does that leave the non MLS clubs in this league?
These non MLS clubs are there to funnel players to the MLS clubs. That is why they agree to play them. It makes for easy recruitment for MLS.
Now what about cost? Former DA clubs were subsidized by USSF. They did not pay reffs, tournament fee, or league fees. I expect cost to participate to drastically increase. Minimum 1k plus more travel expenses.
What kind of showcase or tournaments will MLS league organize? Probably will not be as good as before at least for a few years.
Boys ECNL now has the opportunity to establish itself as the best route to college soccer like they are for girls. The ball is in their court.

Non-MLS teams have ALWAYS been feeders to MLS academies. That was the entire point of the DA. This continues the same pathway that existed before, almost completely unchanged. BECNL is trash. It is a great league for girls. It is an awful league for boys. MLS has committed to showcase events and anyway, that's not what boys are playing for. They want a chance at pro academy status. Mens college soccer has few scholarships and is saturated with internationals already, anyway. If a boy wants to play college they will do so by participating in the very clear cut top league, MLS. This is where they get ,easured against the best players and can train all year. ECNL is going to stay equivalent to NPL, just like last year.
The same things that make ECNL attractive to girls are what make it unappealing to boys.

                    I don’t agree.
MLS league is not the only way to college soccer.

Of course it isn't, neither is the rest of DA or whatever this new league is called. But, if you're on an MLS squad and either can't make it as a pro (or don't want to), you'll get plenty more college coach looks than you will elsewhere. Top programs too. Cracking a top roster if you're no in DA is much harder - there's fewer men's spots and many are taken by international players. All depends on what you're aiming for.

Correct, but MLS will make it easier for boys to get those looks and consideration for top colleges. The same argument that ECNL makes for why they matter so much on the girls side works against them on the boys side.

For MLS teams, yes, for tier 2 teams in the MLS B league .... probably not.
