and Lee was by far the best major General of the war- actually Longstreet and Jackson were the best generals (both southern generals)
no Union general would have kept his army alive for so long- thats why Lincoln picked him

Nothing ? They had lots of cheap labor that the North didn’t. They had cash crops like cotton and tobacco. Yet the North thrived and South was on its back according to you.

Not saying Lee was a competent general (at least operationally), just saying he wasn't the "best" in US military history - and yes, you can only fight against whom the other puts up (just like in team sports, you play your schedule), but little Mac might have won in 1864 if Lee hadn't invaded the north in 1864 and the south put more resources toward holding the west (by a more defensive strategy in the east), thus denying Lincoln the opportunity to portray the war was going to end decisively.

Long time ago - Dems controlled the Alabama legislature until 10 years ago -- where do you think Jim Crow laws started? Dems controlled much of the south until basically the post Reagan period (the myth is Nixon converted the south after Johnson's Civil Rights Act doesn't hold up to actual data) and that had more to do with religious issues like abortion and gay marriage (down south many *black* religious leaders came out against gay marriage and supported DOMA).

The real question is when Biden goes "blacks voting for Trump are crazy", why groups taken for granted by the Democratic party still support them? After all, I hear how things haven't gotten better despite giving the overwhelming support to one party.
