UConn cutting 4 sports, reducing scholarship $ in all others

Unreal what’s happening out there. Now close to 200 sports cut across D1-D3. Even though women’s soccer has been virtually untouched in terms of programme cuts the scholarship $ awarded is reduced for many, so less to go around going forward. Shall we say academics first and soccer second as a good approach?

When wasn't academics 1st? Any college coach would tell you that academics are key as the more aide you can draw from other sources the less you need from soccer the better chance you have of being chosen if not a super star elite player that could start in a year.

I guess you were banking on that soccer scholarship.

Yes, spent probably 50k+ on soccer with the kids playing for an academy (to remain unnamed so no bashing) since U9, but if the opportunity to get some athletic $ dwindles the investment was probably not a great one. At least we could afford it and the experience wasn’t too bad so far.
