Accelerated amortization of player contracts and moving your marketing activities off books to affiliated companies can create an illusion of a "loss" when in fact you are making a lot of money. Plus, the average franchise was worth about $30 million five years ago and many are worth $100 million now.

The value of the marketing arm of the MLS is worth about a billion dollars.

Yeah, that's why Providence Park looks like a 100 year old pig sty. If Paulson was making massive amounts of money he'd be able to reinvest some in his league-worst stadium (not to mention is terrible first team roster).

It ain't worth much of anything. If it was, the real big players would be involved.

Women's soccer is not. MLS is. Let's be straight with people here. 1-2 more years tops for Womens soccer.

That's nothing. A billion dollars? You think that is a lot of money? Amateur.

Tops. Once world cup is over and the US doesn't win, the funding for the national team players will dry up. The NWSL teams will fold shortly thereafter.

A billion? That's it? That's not very much money.

Please go back to whatever country you are from. I don't care about stupid Oregon soccer politics enough to wish for the downfall of the US teams. I hope you and your Brazil soccer jersey get run out of whichever bar you watch the games in. Hypocrite.

Stop being a sniveling little brat. The reality is that there is no money in women's soccer. They have already failed twice at pro women's soccer. You Portland fools think that because the thorns pull the numbers it does the rest of the country is similar. The reality is that most teams are piling under 2k fans and no one watches them on TV. Without a profit motive it's only a matter of time.

Probably should. They play better soccer than the USWNT.

That's your opinion traiter. I root for the home team, especially when national pride is on the line. I'm sure you will have no problem entering Canada for the games. Just returning home might prove troubling. Maybe they can detain you and your family in a cell with Ben Dover and his family for a few days.

Hard to be proud of the USWNT. Had a big head start 15 years ago because of size and physical play. Never got any better over the year. Everyone else has caught up and now the USWNT looks positively OYSA-like.
