And shocker Crossfire Premier lost at home last weekend also. You know teams that don't lose?
Teams that never take the pitch.

Currently 2 local PDX area clubs are fielding teams from Oregon how could anyone expect Oregon to be relevant or get better, with this type of dilution?

No hate. Just facts if Washington fielded 4 teams that were not based on the best talent and coaching available they too like Oregon would be fodder as well.

Ignorant people will always be Ignorant.
      You are spot on.

ECNL is a money grab. You do not need it to play in college. Take the $35k and pay for 3/4 of your child's college degree

I agree, this thread and conversation makes NO sense at all. Washington Timbers Field Club!?!?

Population doesn't matter. Culture does. Or US Players would be playing in the world's best leagues, like the Chileans or the Dutch.

Here is a fun game: Name the Oregon players playing the World Cup. Name the Oregon players playing in NWSL.

Chile plays for the Copa America title Saturday. USA plays for a World Cup final. USA loses, we cry; Chile loses, they riot. Culture.
Fact is we don't have a Soccer Culture in the states which is really why Population does matter especially when you have such a small minority interested in the sport of Soccer.

So in the state if you have a bigger sample of players to draw from the better the chance of finding a quality player and the better chance they have a league or proving ground to develop the small percentage of those who love to play soccer.

American sports culture loves American Football (boys), Basketball (boys & girls), Baseball & Softball then throw in the mix Track n Field/Cross County.

After that you can find the rest of the kids playing in Fencing, Raquetball, Tennis, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Rock Climbing, Cycling, moto-cross, badminton, ping pong, wrestling, hockey, crew and Soccer

Crossfire Premiere did great this year, look back at their first year, not so pretty!

Oh, so just because some other club did poorly their first year but now they are doing ok (not great mind you) then all clubs will follow the same path? Talk about stupid people. I;ll take your WPFC and raise you a Idaho and a Utah, two clubs who continue to stink. You have NO idea how teams are going to turn out over time. CU was absolutely putrid this year and unless they really change some things, they will stink for years to come. FC put themselves on a good path the first year and probably will continue to improve. CU was still born and needs to restart.

should we throw a random unicorn and rainbow statement in here also?

Rainbows, listen buddy, we don't judge if you are part of the LGBT crowd. You want your rainbow flag flown, do it on your own time.

You keep telling yourself that FC. I think anyone who is paying close attention knows the real score here. One is struggling and one is getting stronger. Not FC, they cant even retain homegrown talent.

Isnt it time for the College season to start? Hows Uof P looking this year?

Not FC, just can interpret facts pretty easily. FC finished above CU in every age group except for U16. And in U16, FC was playing much better as the year progressed, CU not so much. They actually were getting worse. CU had teams that barely had enough players on them to play. Or perhaps you see something different. If so, please post the basis for your wild claim. I know that CU is desperate to keep things together, but flat out lying isn't the answer.

Good perspective. If the best players played soccer, we would dominate,
                          Correct?

                          Maradona, cruyff, iniesta, seedorf, messi,
Chicarito, di maria, best, etc don't support the LeBron argument.

In fact, the minority wants access, but the historic majority has made the game insular and exclusive. More like the golf, climbing, fencing, tennis, etc that you speak of: if you can't pay the entrance fee, you can't be in the show!

No lying here. Talent is leaving.
CU had to build all teams from scratch. By design CU merges many clubs to build one. FC had already formed teams, added a few things and kept going. Much easier to come outta the gates. I think next year FC will be left behind as teams are building at CU.

I would even throw in Lacrosse now too. Several girls that have played soccer in the past are migrating towards lacrosse. Lots of boys have given up baseball (too boring/slow) and are now playing lacrosse too.....

So ignore facts and base your opinion on hopes. Just brilliant. CU is in terrible shape. If they can get it together, then good for them. In the mean time, FC was much better this year and will get stronger this year. And just because you say that talent is leaving, it doesn't mean it's actually happening. CU talent is leaving actually. What little there was. All of those clubs and you had maybe 6 good players per age group. You either play with that or you recruit and hope you can get a decent team.
