ECNL isn't losing it's luster - it's doing just fine despite USSF efforts to choke it off. Soccer overall, however, is losing some luster. Youth participation for 6-12 year olds is down 15% in just three years. Those are the players needed to fill the ranks of the "top" leagues in a few years. Excessive cost, travel and sucking the fun out it are cited as reasons. All these leagues and constant change isn't helping either. US soccer overall is a mess and needs a re-boot. But that would require leagues working together to form a comprehensive plan. That is unlikely to happen any time soon; everyone wants to protect their fiefdoms.

Look at indoor records and friendly games. Why go out of state to beat a team by 4 or 5 when you can't do that with all the clubs right here in CT. Makes lot of sense for mid level clubs to actually show who they are and what they are capable of but bad for clubs like fsa who always claim they're the best but in reality they aren't. Bottom line is clubs don't want to lose players but I think everyone should be equal and have chance to prove worth. The strongest will come out on top 💪
