ECNL 2 would consolidate NPL Leagues and capitalize on the brand power of the ECNL. Get rid of Northeast NPL, New England NPL and create a regional league that consists of the second teams from CFC and FSA, OW, GPS, FC Boston, Stars, South Shore etc.

ECNL would still host their traditional showcases in CA, AZ and Texas but that continues to be for the ECNL. Regional showcases are introduced which lessens the travel burden and expenses for families as well as colleges.

Let's face it, if your kid is playing an NPL team you probably aren't targeting D1 schools and probably not even looking beyond a few hour radius of home No need for plane travel to attain those goals.

The handful of top players that come out of here each year still really need to National exposure and that's mainly because coaches want to see how they handle the pressure and speed of playing teams from Texas and California. The kids targeting mid major D1 are essentially along for the ride.

My kid is about to age out but I'd love to see this happen. The time and expense involved in youth soccer is crazy.
Fix ECNL. Not npl or nep or gda ect. ECNL. Fix ECNL.

ECNL has jumped the shark. It's all Academy now. If you're not Academy, you aren't anything.

You're kidding, right? At least on the girls' side, big clubs are dropping GDA left and right and in the Northeast specifically, GDA is very weak. NEFC is the only decent GDA club in New England and I'd bet some serious money that if they could leave GDA and move into ECNL, they would do it in a heartbeat.

It was obviously a joke! Even the most hardcore and loyal OW fans know the vultures are circling. Doesn't mean the ECNL isn't without it's flaws, the GDA just happens to be in very bad shape and getting worse.

ow would jump at the chance to join ECNL right now, they know GDA is going to drag them down.. you watch a mass exodus of girls will be leaving the club come next fall.

OW is done and dusted. They had no choice but to join the DA but once Stars and PDA pulled out the league was donr

ECNL isn't losing it's luster - it's doing just fine despite USSF efforts to choke it off. Soccer overall, however, is losing some luster. Youth participation for 6-12 year olds is down 15% in just three years. Those are the players needed to fill the ranks of the "top" leagues in a few years. Excessive cost, travel and sucking the fun out it are cited as reasons. All these leagues and constant change isn't helping either. US soccer overall is a mess and needs a re-boot. But that would require leagues working together to form a comprehensive plan. That is unlikely to happen any time soon; everyone wants to protect their fiefdoms.

Look at indoor records and friendly games. Why go out of state to beat a team by 4 or 5 when you can't do that with all the clubs right here in CT. Makes lot of sense for mid level clubs to actually show who they are and what they are capable of but bad for clubs like fsa who always claim they're the best but in reality they aren't. Bottom line is clubs don't want to lose players but I think everyone should be equal and have chance to prove worth. The strongest will come out on top 💪

Look. The clubs in state can’t hold CFC’s jockstrap. The games in state would be massacres. Why on earth would they want to batter those teams when they could play good competition out of state?

you can bemoan the travel and the so-called top teams not playing each other (well, FSA and CFC do) but that ship sailed many years ago. It's not going to change unless there is a complete restructuring of all the leagues (not going to happen) or parents universally stop writing checks (also not happening any time soon).

Um, CFC's boys' teams are terrible, so I hope we can not conclude that your girls' teams wear jock straps. Perhaps we need DNA tests before matches Jaz?
