That sound cool. I wish I knew what smithtown slammers means though. What league will they be in while playing in NY/LI? Who do they play against. I would love to know as this is a great option i may consider...

              Smithtown Kickers Soccer Club
Smithtown Kickers Announce Partnership with Walid & Ziad, Founders of Slammers, to Become Smithtown Slammers

Smithtown, New York – Smithtown Kickers, one of the largest youth soccer development programs in New York, and Walid and Ziad, the founders of Slammers, have announced a long-term partnership.

***************This agreement will see Smithtown Kickers align its 40-year history with the culture for personal growth that Walid and Ziad have developed with Slammers on the youth soccer stage to become Smithtown Slammers for the 2019-2020 season and beyond.

***************Formed in the late 1970s, Smithtown Kickers has been a focal point for the development of soccer on Long Island since its foundation. With a great deal of history that includes success on the recreational and competitive levels, Smithtown is prepared to enter a new chapter that focuses on combining its best practices with the proven models of player development that is unique to the Slammers.

              Smithtown Kickers Board of Directors

“The landscape of youth soccer on Long Island and in Smithtown has been changing over the last few years. There are organizations that are trying to impact our community, which has triggered us to examine our current products. We looked for a partner that would enable us to raise the level of services for our club members, while allowing the Smithtown Kickers to maintain our rich history and commitment to our community.

With numerous titles including state, regional, and national championships Smithtown brings a tried and true soccer culture to this relationship. With over a dozen national titles between the two clubs, we believe that we're starting this partnership on a very solid foundation.

***************The Slammers embodied all the core values that our club has, plus they have outstanding tools and services that will enhance our intramural and travel programs. We are excited at this groundbreaking alignment that will benefit the Smithtown families.”

***************The Slammers brand, one of the most recognized names for player development, was founded in 1994 by Walid and Ziad Khoury. More than 25 years later, the name has been tied to 15 national championships, three world championships, and ECNL club championships in 2012 and 2016. In addition, more than 500 of its alumni have gone on to play for NCAA Division I, II and III programs across the United States, earning multiple All-American and All-Conference honors, and NCAA Division I national championships.

***************This partnership marks the first official move to the east coast for the Slammers name and its culture of youth soccer development.

              Walid Khoury, Co-Founder of Slammers

We are incredibly excited to bring the Slammers name, culture, technical goals and merge with the success and history of the Smithtown program. We cannot wait to get started and bring this brand new culture to the Smithtown families and Long Island community in 2019."

***************While the partnership includes opportunities for coaching education, curriculum building and implementation of player development initiatives that have led to proven success under Walid and Ziad, Smithtown Slammers will signify its partnership by sporting the Slammers name on its uniform in the 2019-2020 season.

Muddy message when the web address and web site are for Smithtown Kickers while trying to generate enthusiasm for something called Smithtown Slammers. I would get the branding set across the board before any announcement. That would be more effective and impressive.

That said. This seems just like the surf partnership. What does that bring to the players? Is it valuable to them and in what way?

This is very interesting. Slammers is probably the most dominant club in America right now. They just won ECNL club of the year and won several ECNL national championships (and were in the finals in a couple of other age groups). They also have a history of dominance as this was not the first time they've won ECNL club of the year. They also have ties to professional teams/organizations so they are clearly committed to high level play. I can't see any way to deny that this was a power move for Smithtown.

Its also nothing like Surf. When Surf came to NY they started from scratch. Slammers is not doing that. Whether we all like it or not, Smithtown has been one of the better clubs on long island for years, so there really is no comparison here to what Surf did.

What Surf partnership? Surf didn't partner with anyone. Two totally different things.

The question was, what is this for the players? How is it different for what the surf players are getting from surf?

It is not. Smithtown will claim to be getting ECNL just like Surf did. Surf was not starting from scratch, you should really do your research to the other poster. It is exactly the same thing. And oh by the way, most dominant club in the country for ECNL is PDA. Again go look up the information. Slammers is an excellent club, but please do not think for one second that what they do out in CA will make Smithtown relevant. Your trainers are average at best and the talent pool will not change bc of a club name. Again see Surf.

The club will play in EDP with the hopes to become a 3rd LI club with ECNL. Just what the area needs. Good luck to all.

Oh yeah, the Smithtown club dues will go up. How do you expect the parent club to make money out of this?? Enjoy the new jerseys and rumors for the next twelve months.

How would it be ok to put Susa in the ecnl and then also put Smithtown in ecnl right after? Is ecnl that dishonest and crappy of an organization?

Yes and the change of Patch will not make these parents any less obnoxious rude shameful and aggressive in their behavior.

Huh? This is the same exact scenario as Surf!!!!!! When Surf came to NY, they were recently coming off of a bunch of ECNL accolades and achievements, boasted a boat load of National Team players and held one of the biggest, most competitive tournaments in the country with Surf Cup. They aligned with a club in Westchester who were very similar to Smithtown, decent town club with a few teams that boded well on the NPL/EDP level.
When the birth year age change rolled around, there were a bunch of displaced players looking for a new home and Surf pounced onto Long Island and scooped them up with promises of leveraging the Surf brand to; perhaps gain entry to local ECNL events, get looks from college coaches and a bunch of other things. That's how they ended up in Long Island. To date, none of it ever panned out.
To be fair, a few of the older girls benefited on the college front, but not because of the Surf brand-more because they had a few good hires along the way with the Stony brook coach (who left the club to coach at Yale), Megan Frey (who left to head up/clean up LISC) and the Fordham coach who I believe has also jumped ship-leaving the program in the hands of Chris Roache and some overly involved parents.
Substitute Slammers for Surf, Lips for Roach and throw in those 2 guys Licata and Draper for Bratti and that other guy and it's literally the same exact scenario.
If it makes the kids feel like they are part of something bigger, that's cool...but they would be fine either way. The move to edp is very good for them, they will undoubtedly be dominant in that league, not just in a local level either. I wish them all good luck
