Beachside is in the position they are now simply because of geography. NYSC, NYCFC, EFCW are within 20 miles of Beachside, and Oakwood is only 60 mins away. Oakwood on the other hand, often criticized because of their location, is actually in a great position BECAUSE of their location.

BTW, how could Oakwood's location be a disadvantage? They are located in the middle of the 3rd smallest state in the country.
I agree that BS is in a tough position geographically because of all the other DA clubs close by, especially once NYCFC got rolling. That said, if you have a good record you should attract good talent. BS started off fairly well but has been in a steady decline since. OW is in a less populated part of the state, and is unworkable for many good players in FC. Just like many non MLS clubs some top players make the sacrifice to travel a great deal for opportunities at MLS clubs - even the lowly Revs.

Overall I think some of the bloom is off the BDA rose. More are seeing that unless you're a top player (even better if you're at an MLS club) the league is not necessarily a path to good college soccer. Combine that with the sacrifices of no HS sports. If you can play good club and HS soccer and end up at the same places as may DA players then why not?

Agree on the DA rose wilting ... There were quite a few former BDA players who came back to HS teams. This was especially true in FCIAC many of those BSC player

The Merge is a sham, it’s an “affiliate “ deal that Beachside will be a satellite club for NYCFC.
This is gonna be more common with all the MLS clubs , the USSF is aware that many clubs like Beachside are struggling financially and competitively to stay a float in the DA system and failure is closer than success.
It’s already up and running in the Girls DA with Sky Bue ( Sky Blue - PDA & Sky Blue -NYSC)
( LA Galaxy & LA Galaxy San Diego) (Washington Spirits -Baltimore & Virginia)

The USSF DA is somewhat struggling in keeping the Non MLS teams to stay a float in this league if the Non MLS teams leave then the DA is a wrap. MLS DA teams are few and far apart playing only themselves will be exciting for one or two seasons tops.

I Expect More affiliate news probably a FCW and a RedBulls.

And to add - expect a new name NYCFC-Beachside.

So all the best Beachside players go to NYFC? The rest play premier for Beachside. Sounds like a good plan. Those premier players playing in State Cup will be quite hapoy

Nope — it’s like an A & B team playing in the same Academy league best players will always go to A team voluntarily.

In return a win win for Beachside , who get to use the facility’s for games, sponsorship for other trinkets but use of the NYCFC name is critical as it makes beachside look like a big contender.

This has nothing to with NYCFC.

The potential deal is with NYSC.

Yes best go to BS, but they're already doing that. The rest is still pay to play DA. It's just a clearer path to top DA. It's a marketing tool more than anything else.

What the DA does though, undoubtedly, is create better players. If just playing in college is your aim, yes, non DA is fine. If becoming the best possible player you can is your goal, DA is the way.

                      Some thoughts

                      - NYSC isn't NYCFC
                      - NYCFC already had an affiliation with BS and other clubs. How did that work out
                      - An affiliation with NYCFC means no older ages at BS
                      - This will strengthen FCW as BS older players who can't make NYFC migrate there

NYCFC and NYSC are not the same club. PLEASE don't try debunk rumor when you don't' even know the local soccer landscape

NYCFC is an MLS club based in NY

NYSC is a DA club that has DA boys up to U15 and full Girls DA.

The rumor is with BSC and NYSC and nothing to do with NYCFC.

The affiliate thing with NYCFC and BSC fizzled out.

I will say this, the last rumor about BSC and the Monroe was been spot on.

And a response to other poster BSC repuation is at all time low why sell but you should also note its also at all time high with respect liquid assets. If a deal is signed off it could be a win-win. Something to think about before you to try to debunk. Don't get me wrong MK is going nowhere but cashing out in reinventing himself in a tough market is a legitimate strategy. This happens all the time in many service industries. People sell/cash out the better-positioned company in a hostile market and bunker down. Ride out the storm and sit sidelines until the noncompete clause ends and then reenter the industry. Happens all the time, the company makes a tactical mistake in hostile market short-term exit plan could be a long-term genius move.

The trick is separating the BSC cash from the older DA badges.

If you give up power you will be vanquished like SCP was. You are DA or you are not. If they do multiple tiers then you are tier 1 or you are a premier outfit. You cant charge top prices as BSC does and live in a b or c league ...... And expect kids to give up HS to do this. If this merger truly happens it is a total sell out and the end of BS in DA as we know it.
