    Uh, no.

OPL was founded by FC, THUSC, etc. to a) avoid getting thrashed by WSM and ESU (this was before the Timbers Alliance), b) to avoid having to travel to Bend or Eugene, and c) as a powerplay intended to cripple OYSA.

Cripple OYSA it did, which is one thing that allowed the dread Timbers to take over Oregon youth soccer.

Remember that, any time you hear an FC or Crossfire honk complaining about Peregrine. If it weren't for their little attempted putsch a few years back, OYSA wouldn't have had to climb into the barrel.

"Monty Hawkins coaches the Westside Metros U-19 team at a practice last week at a field in Beaverton. The Westside Metros were one of the founding clubs in the Oregon Premier League, which has broken away from the Oregon Youth Soccer Association, the state's governing body since 1974. I'm sorry if it weren't for ecnl and now the DA, there just isn't enough competition in Oregon. Heading down to Bend or Eugene and winning without alot of effort is not good for anyone. The reality is there isn't enough quality to go around and its probably only demographics to blame. I'm guessing in any given birth year there are only 15 to 20 girls who could be called elite, so you must look elsewhere for better competition

Thrashed by Westside or Eastside? That is comical. You should check out the history when Eastside and Westside played OPL. They got there asses kicked by FC Portland, THUSC, and LO

Also do you not remember that a Eastside and Westside was one of the founding members of OPL? They only went back to OYSA when Gavin saw a way to help his boss make more money thru youth soccer

Total clown show. Why spout off about things you obviously know nothing about?

So we are all on the same page the OPL was founded by 7 local clubs and WSM was one of them. FC, THUSC, LOSC & SSC voted to boot out WSM, ESU & PCU after they elected to go back to the OYSA with the new moniker Timbers for ESU & WSM. Not aware of the 8th club, too far back to pull that one out

I quit, no your fired deal.

OYSA was back in business with this departure from OPL to OYSA and 3 years of futility later the OPL died and FC, THUSC/LOSC/SSC opted to join another US Club offering for the girls who could afford the travel at the HS ages, which brings us to present day.

Then GW pulled in Vancouver, Bend, Salem, Eugene and Medford as well leaving FC PDX, THUSC, LOSC and SSC to die on the vine in the OPL, which did happen. Moved MS and EL to administer and run the OYSA from Peregrine..(providence) Park.

PCU remained somewhat like Switzerland in this transition of association hopping.

Funny how those clubs that "died on the vine" are still the strongest clubs in the state and putting more kids in college soccer than all Timbers/Thorns clubs and academies combined.

Think about his for a second.

                        FCPDX - ECNL

                        THUSC - ECNL (Crossfire United)

                        LOSC - ECNL (Crossfire United)

                        SSC - ECNL (Crossfire United)

What do you think happened to OPL. It became a B/C league that no one cared about which made it a good fit for OYSA. Why have two "B" leagues in Oregon?

Just take a closer look at which clubs the college commits are coming from. It is not from Eastside and Westside.

                          SSC on life support.

                          ThuSC decimated by CU

Timbers Academy for boys has 3x nat champ products at stanford..

                          LoSC seriously.

                          Fc is still in freefall..

LoSC does have robust rec numbers though.

It isn't that westside lied on this thread, they are just old/forgetful and the only history they teach the young ones is in timbers' approved history books.

Pcu was Switzerland? Yes pcu is good at never standing for anything and counting the money.

Lol this thread is funny but headed back to new years party - see you all next year!

Boys TA has former WST and EST products on nat teams..d1 champs..mls rosters..dont look too close since its right in front of you.

Title ix gives money to average girls.

Boys get very little in soccer..reverse discrimination..and girls soccer is just plain awful to watch.

                                No roi.
