2017 OR State Cup Brackets & Seedings

For 06G, LO participated. They did not play in the fall and won only 1 match in the spring that being against a team that did not win any matches. Why was LO allowed into the cup and placed in a bracket that did not contain the top seed?

We had this in Boys U12. There was an ICF team that was not in existence in the fall, and then after recruiting/stealing players from other clubs (along with their older brothers, so the player card photo woulf look similar) are playing the lowest level of soccer this spring. They were allowed to play in State Cup. Their roster had hand written names on it, and the majority of these alleged 11/12 year old boys, were all over 5'5" and some as tall as 5'11". However, they went out in pool play with a record of 0-1-1.

if they went out and played that poorly sounds like there isn't much to complain about. other than people you didn't want to play a game were playing a game.

If you understand how the seedings are used to form the brackets, you'll see that the 06G brackets were done EXACTLY per the fall standings.

When you have 3 brackets you get groupings of (notice the serpentine pattern):

A: 1,6,7
B: 2,5,8
C: 3,4,9,10

As ETFC (10th) didn't participate, that makes LO the 10th seed, and putting them in bracket C is proper. Oregon State Cup is an OPEN competition for all teams that participated in ANY OYSA sanctioned league - ANY team can enter.

When you add in the boys side, Westside has **15** teams advancing to the elimination stages. (In 02B, there are TWO westside Copa teams competing). I think the only Westside teams that didn't advance were the various Samba (second) teams that entered; none of those are expected to.

You played your best boys in oysa not DA and your competition on the girls side all play ecnl, statistics are only as good as the way they are spun...in this case you are trying to use state cup as the end all be all for measuring results. oysa is a joke that is manipulated by those in charge almost purely for your benefit. I could go down several different age and gender brackets to show the inconsistency and manipulation

Even if you exclude the 04 boys (DA) and the 02, 00, and 99 girls (ECNL; no WT 01 girls team was entered in the tournament), that's still 11.

But then, who really cares about the travelling recruiter roadshow that is the Expensive Cattle-call National League? If FC/CU B teams were dominating OYSA, you might have a point--but only one FC OYSA team (and zero teams from Crossfire or THUSC) have gotten to the elimination rounds of the 99-02 girls. Next year GDA will probably level the playing field.

How about "great job" to those teams instead of "not bad" since they're "B" teams. FYI-Before ECNL, TA, DA and GDA, clubs here had first and second teams play in same state cups (both USCS and USYSA) and major out-of-state tournaments, and sometimes second teams beat first teams.

In the U14 to U18 girls' entries not affected by U16 games still to be played (PCU, CFC, Bend, and Eastside), Crossfire has 2 of 5 teams advancing,THUSC has 0 of 3, FC Portland has 1 of 5, and Westside has 4 of 4.

This means that FC/ THUSC/ Crossfire had 13 teams entered, or approximately 220 U14 to U18 players. They should not be dismissed as "B" players. Nor should any of the other players from any of the other clubs.
