    Talent always rules

Talent gives you opportunity in sports.

    Athletic Scholarships for instance.

In Portland the ultra elite girls and boys in soccer with the most talent and dedication can have essentially a free ride for upwards of 4 to 6 years with the Timbers/Thorns DA and (G) DA programs. It's truly remarkable and takes nothing away from the neighborhood clubs who don't offer this kind of benefit. The best of the best will play in the Timbers/Thorns DA, money talks.

It's amazing how the DA has figured out a way to fund it - OYSA fees, state cup fees, tournament profits (such Beaverton Cup, lol). Lots of people paying these elites' soccer. Instead of thanking everyone, look how cocky they are about it.

FREE RIDE? No, you are not free. Lol. You drive up everyone else's costs.

It's a theory you can't prove any of what you claim..which sucks. This is not a transparent relationship Peregrine reveals nothing about where the OSYA league, cup, rtc and even camp monies actually go.

One could argue they go to pay the wages of OYSA flunkies MS and EL which is the most logical appropriation since Peregrine would of never hired these guys unless the OYSA monies were funneled to them. Those monies fund their jobs as no MLS club has control of a State Youth Org.

or the OYSA TIMBERS/THORNS fees could pay for the transfer fee of $1 million for a middle aged south american player on the MLS Roster.

Also the DA's could be funded by the revenues from the corporate suites or the sponsorship dollars from the Root sports package.

This list of possibilities is endless and your left with an empty theory.

In the end you will never, ever know...and none of what you claim will ever stick and it all of what you say can be easily brushed aside. It's a conspiracy theory for now.

They are the MLS Timbers & NWSL Thorns and you are not.

        Have vs.

        Have Not.

It's not being cocky, if you can back it up.

Yep. And it sucks for your kid that the ECNL families are figuring it out and will take your kid's spot next month. Have fun crawling back to your TA team. I'm sure with your charming demeanor they will welcome you back with open arms.

As replied to you on another thread...

Peregrine is receiving 99% of OYSA fees (which should ethically be a nonprofit program) and probably all OYSA tourney profits, but not the players cards fees. That is well over $1 million a year. Peregrine funds the DA (even the website says they are funded in conjunction with OYSA who is going bankrupt for receiving squat). I'm not going to argue with an idiot. No way does peregriine have millions just sitting there earning interest. Meanwhile, somehow DA can now afford GDA travel. It doesn't need proof. Just a fraction of an ounce of common sense. Just keep living in your la la land feeding off the poor.

DA families need to be gracious and not cocky that they are getting something for free. All Oregon soccer families are supporting you. Learn some class and teach it to your girls.

Of course, ECNL girls who get college scholarships are having their educations subsidized by the rest of the student body. In either case, money is fungible, and someone has to pay for what they get for "free". (Yes, I know athletic departments have separate books, but money is fungible).

Yet if the Timbers do this, it's an outrage.

I would rather my college tuition didn't subsidize athletes--sports being well outside the primary mission of a university, and I certainly cannot "opt out" of paying for sports, but I don't throw a tantrum about it...

Peregrine has so many revenue streams outside of the MLS restrictive franchise model, The MLS single entitity basically takes a large chunk of their (Peregrine) monies from the ticket sales and a host of other sources including all the National broadcasting rights. What you don't know is what you don't know. So GW has set up revenue streams independent of the MLS franchise model which includes Camps, Local TV, Corporate Suites, food cart vendors, local sponsorship, OYSA league fees, RTC and many more sources of income to make the business model work.

It's just plain ignorant and childish for you to claim the OYSA league and RTC fees are funneled to the DA programs, it's a convenient theory for your angst but Peregrine could of spent of all it on all on Mike Golub's salary as the president of Business for the Timbers/Thorns. You are clutching to a theory that fits your situation not reality. Also it can never be proved. Accept that and move on.

If Peregrine's only income was OYSA league, cup and RTC fees you could make a better argument and attempt to track the flow of money within the Peregrine model. YOU CANT TRACK THE INCOME generated for OYSA services that are paid directly to Peregrine. It's by design and this transaction keeps you guessing and coming up with your own personal theory of how Peregrine spends it's income.

Even without the OYSA services coming in , Peregrine is on the hook to cover the DA expenses by MLS mandate, not sure about the NWSL US Soccer mandate for the (G) DA.

There is no way the Timbers should be able to come up with a 4 million transfer fee for a player based on the MLS model for Blanco for instance, but they run a strong business outside of the MLS structure and have it.

You need to get away from this a bit and understand they have so much money coming in from various sources they can spend it only any expense they want.

All DA kids are being supported by Peregrine period, they are beholden and gracious to them for sure.

All the Peregrine revenue from season ticket holders & corporate suite holders + the kids that go to the Timbers camps, people that buy merchandise, the advertisers for local TV & Radio and the OYSA League/Cup fees + RTC go into the revenue side of Peregrine ledger. (countless revenue streams not included)

Basically anyone that buys something from Peregrine is funding the DA programs indirectly.

Choosing one tiny revenue stream(OYSA services) of the Peregrine model and attributing that profit margin just the DA's is not only a reach it's nonsense. That's how business works,

I believe the TALENT in girls this age (gda) has been gotten by hard work determination and some genetics ( genetics being smallest factor ). I believe girls who make GDA have probably spent more time alone honing their skills and their parents have probably spent more money on trainings then a normal soccer parent would accept as normal. TALENT and Luck are the two most overused words in our language.

These girls have worked hard and for last few years have played alongside kids who take soccer way less serious, and generally gotten gutted at top levels of soccer by other states.

Working hard and rising to the top of your peer group is very American. Some times through hard work and determination you get a better deal. Kinda how life works. Girls GDA is here. Hope best players turn to this model and get rewarded for it with teams that compete and win against other top clubs from around the country. Also hope parents get to take a financial victory lap for all the time effort and money we spent getting our girls to this level.

Good luck in whatever you all decide.
