Why style of soccer play do the 05/04 and 03 GDA coaches historically encourage? Timbers are boot ball.

All indications are a style that costs 2k with travel included vs a style that cost 10k for slaughter and you pay for travel as well, (adding insult to injury).

Even if that were the case it's on their dime not yours. Weird response.

The advantage goes to the consumer/user pocket book with the subsidized NWSL Portland Thorns GDA, the question remains who will reap these benefits? Tryouts and selection process will be a task for the staff with so many kids hoping for placement.

Do you not put any value on your time?

What are you talking about 'Time'?

Time to find an alternative after 2 years of misery.

Was really hoping the new THUSC DOC would stay at CU and not move to the Thorns program. Which does suck.

Plus the program will probably cost $4400 so you are well over $10,000 per year.

This isn't totally fair but you have to understand the timbers are not really in the business of developing players. If they want to do that it could take them years to figure it out if ever.

Right now Seattle Reign ECNL is #1 in the PAC NW ECNL conference. Is this the team they are moving to GDA or will that team stay in ECNL and the "B" team play in GDA?

We all know the GDA is not going to be as good as the ECNL teams no way ! Maybe in 5 years but not now ! Scouting is only at ECNL for the next 3-5 years all parents know this !

That GDA propaganda sales person is sounding worse then the Ecnl idiots.

Remember what happened to Ecnl parents? NO ONE trusts them anymore. The same will be for you.

The players on this team don't have any other options. The two ECNL options are both East and South and that can be almost a two hour drive during rush hour.

Not saying the option is bad but they have a great team and will do fine sticking together. The Thorns dont have a good team and would be starting from scratch (again) Just dont see it working right out the gate for them.

So does that mean that the top Reign ECNL team is leaving ECNL for GDA?

                                Bottom line is:
Current OR ecnl players are sitting pretty. They can try out for GDA if they want. If not (or if they don't make GDA), they can simply continue in a top league for the next several years. NorCal top clubs all stayed in ECNL. Even if GDA ends up taking over, it won't be for several years.

Current Thorns Academy players are in more of a pickle. Currently 25 rostered players, many of whom were B teamers on ECNL or don't want to or can't do ECNL. Almost all have seriously burned bridges with Ecnl or old teams. Due to low price, GDA will be popular & will draw out some ECNLers as well as many remaining top players from OYSA. How many of the current 25 Thorns Academy will get carried over to GDA? Maybe half (12) at the most? Those other 13 aren't sitting nearly as pretty as all the ECNL players or even as pretty as the remaining top players in OYSA that have thus far been happy to stay at their local club vs traveling to do an elite option.
