That Dallas team is the #1 team in the country and last year some of the players were on the team that won nationals. So yes they're young but they're really good and young.

Speed and physicality of play is why we all pay to see men's sports and ignore women. You may not like it, but Sepp was right, crude, but right: "Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball...."

If only we could get over the idea that everything must always be equal. Women's sports are never going to be as popular as men's. USWNT will eventually become unpopular when the rest of the world continues to demonstrate how they have caught up and surpassed us. Give it a couple of World Cup & Olympics cycles and as we start going out earlier and expectations lower, the WNT fan support will wane.

There were at least a few dozen people greeting the UCONN women on campus when they returned after losing their final game.

Saw this in the Oregon forum. I didn't read through this thread so I don't know if there has been similar discussion here. The quote below was was n response to someone that says the USWNT plays too much "bootball."
"Many college coaches prefer "bootball" also.
Highly successful men's college programs such as Creighton, Akron, sometimes Stanford, and others can play a possession game and win championships so why can't the women?
^^ Forgot to add that I much prefer to watch a game of possession soccer also. I would much rather watch a 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 result that was hard fought and played with possession as opposed to a lopsided game in which a lot of kickball was played. I realize that the end result is all that really matters but those sides that rely too much on kickball will generally lose when they match up against a talented side that can possess the ball. The women are not taught to possess the ball. Will the GDA change that? We can only hope."
Personally I feel that the USWNT has been playing with more possession but they just aren't good at doing it yet. Hopefully the GDA will help in bringing up a generation of players that can possess the ball.
