Wow, Sacramento
-is a smaller metro than Portland (looking at Primary Statistical Area for US Census),
-lacks an MLS team, and
-has had an academy for a shorter period of time than the Timbers,
yet Sacramento's academy is far outperforming Timbers' Academy. Too bad it is likely going to fold next year (not getting MLS has been a killer for that academy).
Not sure Timbers poor academy performance can be explained by population alone.
Query - would Timbers Academy be more successful today, if their youth initiatives over the last 5 years would have been less focused on the Alliance, running leagues and tournaments, and ODP and more focused on their core Academy?

Que the "you are just mad your kid did not make it"- Could not be further from the truth as I am speaking from experience of being on both sides of the fence....

Politics play the biggest role plus coachs don't have a clue. Private training gets you on the team plus Larry is doing it for his kid period. Time for a change. People take a look at the GA cup results.

Interesting pattern to note here:
Before Timbers Academy, Portland had a good track record of producing pros on a per capita basis.
It has been argued on this forum (not sure if supported by data, but the argument has been made) that pre-ECNL Oregon produced more women college soccer players.
Have these national leagues actually moved the needle for Oregon?

Ga cup. Timbers will be playing Orlando tomorrow . Loser takes last place in tournament.
Time for a coaching change. It might be a good idea to get a coach that doesn't have a son on the team.

The T u16 were last. Revolution had worst pool play. The u12s got 12th out of 20, not bad for a small market team.

FC honks think that if they just try enough, they could be Surf or Sting or some other full-service club from a soccer hotbed with a big enough player pool to support multiple top-rate soccer academies, and view the Timbers academy programs (especially the GDA, which is what a lot of this whining is really about) as a threat to their glorious dreams.

Folks have been questioning the ethics and the health of the Timbers take over youth soccer ever since they extorting $50k from OPL.
