USYS cups and regionals are watered down to almost rec-level now anyway. They aren't worth the effort anymore.

Still serve a purpose of letting the lesser teams left behind feel like they keep improving by doing well in State or making it and winning a game or two at Regionals. People only argue about the few elite teams but it is all the lower teams that bring in the bacon to pay for the elites. Ironically, the lower teams are happier now that they do well in OYSA with most of the elite gone. Win for everyone but the smart ones that figure out the scam.

What I can't understand is how you are that insecure in your child's talent/abilities, that you feel the d to come on here and out others down to make yourself feel good. You are neither smart, nor is your child elite. You do relaize this, right?

1. Peregrine gets none of OYSA 'profits' they actually pay expenses for OYSA on many fronts per the 'contract'.

2. Peregrine gets REVENUE from hundreds of other sources in it's business model, are any profitable? We don't know until they open their books.

3. With so many millions of dollars in expenses for the Peregrine beast, you want to drag in your little personal issue with US Soccer Awarding them a boys & girls DA program, that Peregrine funds. Then you magically connect all the financial dots from your uninformed armchair and tahda everything you believe is confirmed (in your mind of course) & it fuels your unrest, congrats you did it! you cracked the code!!

Our outlying TA team has benefitted from this effect. The team used to finish near bottom of premier when all players were in OPL. Moved up a few spots when Oysa OPL split. Moved up a few more to 2nd/3rd once Ecnl & then Thorns Ac. started. Next year the teams ahead of us (all Portland teams) will lose a few more top players. Parents & players are all so happy about how good the team has gotten. "Our girls are developing so much better & faster than the others...". Bet we win league & state next year. Ignorance is bliss so not knocking the bliss but it is ironic.

Honestly, this thread has gotten off track - who cares if state cup has lost its luster at some ages/genders because of ECNL and DA - still a fun statewide tournament that some teams/clubs take seriously.

If folks don't like it, they don't have to do it.

However, 2 games guaranteed for the price is a ripoff; costs of the Timbers league, tournaments, and ODP are being set by a for-profit monopoly that has its own agenda, with (apparently) little oversight from OYSA.

Honestly, this thread has gotten off track - who cares if state cup has lost its luster at some ages/genders because of ECNL and DA - still a fun statewide tournament that some teams/clubs take seriously.

If folks don't like it, they don't have to do it.

The 2 clubs who opted to play in another league hasn't changed the baseline standard of OYSA league or State Cup locally, instead those clubs rack up losses in another league vs losing locally. It's irrelevant.

The DA on the other hand has had a dramatic impact on club soccer in Oregon removing the very best players from every club.
