Many of these schools took a very big hit with no college basketball “march madness” that schools count on as well. The pressure is on these colleges to make sure that the fall season proceeds regardless of this pandemic.

More Universities rely on the cash flow from football than any other sport!

^ none of the above applies to soccer. At best soccer teams break even, many run in the red.
This is supposed to be "voluntary" but some coaches will pressure players to come back. No doubt athletes weren't planning on returning to campus in June, and some are lucky enough to still have summer jobs and internships they'd like to keep.
