Scenario 2: Woman gathers other parents on the teams and bashes the coach. "He picks his favorite and doesn't pick my kid that attends every practice and game. Coach sucks."

Sometimes the coach really does cater to a select few parents because they have older or younger kids that are also in the system and key players. I've seen some average players get spots and time because older sis is the leading scorer for the older team and because parent sits on board of large township program and helps funnel players into academy. But yes, I do see bad players parents complain about how bad a coach is because their kid doesn't play as well.

An other way. Big clubs like RB and PDA want to sign players from local town clubs. No problem. They must pay them a fee. The travel club can then take that money and reinvest in the club. That's how the rest of the world works.
You think the academies will pay for this? Nope, they'll up their price in order to send the fee to the township.

You will never see any kind of transfer fee for kids coming out of town programs.

Pay for play isn’t a great system, but their isn’t funding for anything else. Every youth sport in the US is pay to play; basketball, football, baseball and hockey don’t have a funded youth systems.

Ajax's entire business model is developing youth, showcasing them and selling them of.
That's what we need here if you want change. Have Amazon sponsor youth soccer. They have enough money to give away.
