Originally posted by Unregistered View PostEven more bad information. The devil is in the details with the ECNL and the biggest detail that their supporters love to leave out is the number of mandatory trips each team is required to make. Every high school team is REQUIRED to do a set amount of travel regardless of whether the team is really any good or the players are looking to showcase in front of the coaches that will be at a specific event. Not sure about the 14's but if I remember correctly the 15's and 18's are required to do 2 showcases plus the national event. The 16's and 17's are required to attend 3 plus the national event. There is only 1 drivable ECNL event so all of that travel requires air plane ticket. Also since most of the showcase events are on the west coast it makes it difficult to be seen if you want to stay relatively close to home. You may your daughter might have to guest on other teams going to other tournaments to get her exposed to the coaches she wants. That's a cost above and beyond.
"more bad information"
was that you referred to in your opening sentence?
Are coaches recruiting heavily at u17? Or is u13 significantly more expensive in the ECNL than any other top tier team?
Because those were the only two points I made in my post.

"More bad information" for two reasons.
1, you avoided the larger cost issue by strictly focusing on the Pre-ECNL year which is ECNL in name only. The costs are a big issue once you get beyond that which you rather cavalierly avoided.
2, you make it seem like simply showing up at a showcase is how a player gets recruited. You couldn't be more wrong about that. Showcases are one of the last pieces in he process and if you skip those other pieces, just going to a few showcases doesn't do much at all for the player.

PDA is sort of the unofficial kickoff event for the recruiting year. The inter regionals, CASL, the Florida Christmas events (ECNL or Disney) and Jefferson are the big must attend events on the east coast. Those are where you will find most of the east coast coaches at. The timing of these events is also fairly important because typically a coach goes shopping at one then uses the next to confirm so you want to be at the event when the level of program your player likely fits at will be shopping.

U13 ECNL has very little extra travel. Expenses compare to most top teams.
Waiting until u17 is a very bad idea if you want college exposure. By the heart of the u17 year most ECNL players are committed and you will see very few coaches at the sidelines of u17 spring games.
Coaches are mostly at u16 and some u15 games.

Must be tough trying to sell the ECNL these days. Pretty clear that the local affiliates are just not part of the "ECNL" they want everyone to think is out there and so now folks like you just start flailing at anything and everything to deflect attention from it.

So I did have the BTDT part, correct, right?
