Now that you’ve been accepted ED and the Bill Belichick of D3 soccer just left for Harvard what do you do?

Does your son want Tutts or not? That's all that matters. If he was only going for the soccer he should reconsider his priorities, then call the admissions office and pray.

The Tufts' mens soccer page still lists Shapiro as head coach. I would have thought they would have had enough time to figure out an interim coach, or at least announce a nationwide search . . .

Thanks to the admissions rules ED is no longer binding. Go wherever you want.

Or stay and play for a team that will likely be contending for NESCAC and DIII championships for each of the next four years. Losing JS likely hurts a bit, but they will still be very good.

              Serious question: Which admission rules?

Well in your case the answer is to order a dozen extra large pepperonis.

Predictions on how long Harvard will keep its new coach?
I give him 3-5 years before he realizes that Harvard doesn't really support the program.
Not having real scholarships in division 3 is different than not having them in division 1.

The recruits he was looking for before are very similar to those he's looking for now. If a player really needs $ to attend college Harvard has a better shot with their need based aid formulas than many D3s. Boys looking for free athletic rides will be disappointed with D1 as there isn't as much money to go around

Schools can poach students at any time now. ED no longer limits students from choosing another school at any time. The traditional May 1st RD deadline is a thing of the past also.

Most important is the Harvard Title!!!
The Virginia B. and James O. Welch Jr. '52 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Soccer

How much money do you have to pay to get your names on a soccer coaches title for a division 1 team with an 0-14-1 record and a 8-47 GF/GA tally that has won 5 games in the past 3 seasons???

No one is expecting a title, just an improvement and steps towards quasi competitiveness. If he's win 6 games by year two he's a hero.

Whoever wrote this is clueless about the Ivy League. Harvard is in the exact same position as its seven other competitors in that league, as none of those teams have "real scholarships", just very generous need-based financial aid.

And Harvard was ranked third in the country as recently as 2010. They surely can compete.
