I predict whoever the Thorns select will not make the starting line up. Let the 2020 season of tanking begin
Smith is in the list I just saw from NWSL

Two of the top forwards in the country. Love it! Anyone know why Smith decided to forgo her last year at Stanford?

She had two seasons left (she was a sophomore this past season). She's currently in the USWNT camp, so she is clearly headed for a career in soccer at this point. My 2 cents...

Probably felt nothing left for her to do. Wining 2 more national titles didnt sound as good as going pro to her.

Typically staying in school would be the better option. She is the type of player that coming out now, may be a best option financially. One of the few kids in this sport that could find good support for such a move. Ex ECNL kid... Fun one to watch..

If she’s been given assurances of a permanent sr wnt roster spot, she may have a big financial incentive due to Olympic bonuses. Not unlike Davidson last year - tierna would have lost out on a fair amount of money if she had stayed at Stanford in last year’s World Cup year.
