Superliga is failing our kids with just not being willing to do the work to get us up and playing games.
But town is not failing our kids. At least not the competitive towns who are being creative and volunteering their time during COVID and over the summer. These towns, and their are only a few, are in my opinion the best thing for soccer in our state. The coaches and board who volunteered their time and were so generous and creative this summer are incredible salt of the earth people.
The clubs though are seeing a stressful time for parents who are desperate to give their kids normalcy, and exercise and are taking advantage of these parents.
Think about it. Parents paid for ZOOM club soccer all spring!!! Yes they paid for that crap. They were no reimbursed. Then they were asked to start paying for this season and told if they didn't start paying their child could lose their spot even though we had no idea if COVID would shut down soccer. THEN they make all these parents buy a whole new uniform. Are you kidding me?
Town soccer truly has an opportunity now to be something special for the families. But they need to get SUPERLIGA on board. They all need to work together. Because the kids are the ones who are suffering.
I would like to see the whole pay to play club situation collapse from the greed and bad behavior I've seen. But we have competitive parents who will keep funding these clubs, sadly.
What we can do is ask our towns to work together crating out of state tournaments if needed. Developmental programs with colleges and college players.
Can't do this without getting SRI to get a little more courage and get soccer reclassified to low or moderate risk now.

RI clubs who are NEP/NPL can only scrimmage in state against teams in their club. Baker still won’t let us play in MA. RI teams who schedule games in CT like Surf can play and they don’t deal with silly MA rules. At this point Surf is getting all their games in. They went to NH for a tournament (no silly rules.) They now play games in CT. All other clubs have been reduced to scrimmages like town soccer. Something needs to change in RI since HS is allowed to travel and compete. We are seeing clubs and town competitive sitting out and it’s almost end of Sept. soccer has been approved here! Clubs and towns need to fight this. Maybe being part of NEP/NPL isn’t the best idea for RI clubs. Maybe being part of SRI isn’t best for RI town travel. Time to get creative.

Baker still needs to remove the restriction on travel between the 2 states. That's another issue all together.
