My favorite part is hearing freshman and or their parents saying “ if I’m not on varsity I’m not playing”...especially when they aren’t very good in the first place.

Agreed. Several Tampa high schools will have a smattering of ECNL players.

It will be an interesting season in Pinellas County......

Palm Harbor is Palm Harbor. Always good.

Osceola lost 10 or 11 seniors. Not gonna be that good.

Seminole finally has a competent coach but are basically returning the same players.

Largo lost arguably the best goalie in the bay area to graduation and is not returning it’s leading scorer. But they are returning all but 6-7 players from last season.
Chemistry and High School Soccer - is that a non-sequitur, a contradiction in terms or an oxymoron?

USSF rules same as last year, any kid can play HS as long as they do play DA at the same time. Now clubs are allowed to set their own rules prior to the season. Kids with waivers always allowed to play.

how are they cracking down? most da teams barely have 13-14 girls on a roster, due to sub rule lots of good players didn't want to give it all up to sit on bench..... what are they going to do if the girls go play HS AND show up for all practices and games?

ill tell you what, NOTHING lol

Club has no say. Word always gets back to US Soccer...trust me. Kids and parents are catty as hell and someone will blow the whistle on players doing both.

                Then US Soccer suspends them

yes, that's why USSOCCER set up the florida schedule to end mid November and not start up again til March --- they will "suspend" the dual players from DA while they only have practices dec and jan, and once HS season ends in February they are re-instated

win win for all (and ecnl heads will explode haha)

You do realize FL is one of the few states that plays in the winter. Everyone else is fall or spring, including SoCal. Don't think FL is that special because it isn't. That said, yes many kids and clubs took advantage of the unusual timing last year. But it was noticed by USSF. Your HS season begins with the first tryout and ends when your team has their last playoff game. That does overlap with DA and is not allowed. Waivers only go to private school players and require USSF approval. Even if approved you can't do both at the same time.

Last year there was game suspensions for playing both.

When is the Winter Showcase scheduled?

Word on the street is a few kids tried to do that this fall in other regions and were quickly shut down (probably from parents ratting out kids like you said but possibly competing clubs too. They know who all the top players are). Can't have it both ways and I'm glad USSF is cracking down.

But why bother? Between the substitution rule, the sneaking around to play high school soccer, and the other stuff you read about DA, you would think they had already promised the kids a spot on the national team. DA is basically saying to parents "Toe the line, pay us your money and deal with it because we are the only pipeline into the national team." That's about as close to extortion/illegal monopoly as you can get. Why give up control, your self respect and freedom for a 1/100k shot at team?

I know in the area where we live when it comes to girls high school soccer Palm Harbor always has an incredible team and they tend to have a lot of ECNL players. However St Pete, Countryside, Osceola and Seminole traditionally have strong girls soccer programs but don't have a lot of ECNL players. Last year Largo was the best team in Pinellas County. They beat Palm Harbor and were undeated, and will be strong again this year. They have maybe one or two ECNL players but have alot of talented players that don't play ECNL.
You must be a largo parent as they were not the best team in Pinellas and were not undefeated. Yes they beat Palm Harbor but we’re 2-0 down till the palm Harbor coach made a mess of the game tactically. Largo is a good team but not the best in PINELLAS just look at the National rankings and see what Pinellas team is the highest ranked. FYI it’s not largo

So girls play DA, then skip one of only two events that are really worthwhile within the program. Asinine.
