And they all play a part.

Its funny, the Oregon ECNL folks act as if ECNL is the greatest thing that could have ever been presented to them. It's so funny. Soccer has just been born.

Relative to the Thorns Academy and OYSA it is the greatest thing.

So, before ECNL, no one traveled, no girls went to college, no one did any of the things that ECNL says it will provide. Are you people serious? You all just played on crappy teams before and didn't travel and never got into good tournaments, never made regionals or nationals, and never had practices for three days a week. So apparently, your teams really sucked.

It's as if the Oregon ECNL people were finally enlightened to playing at a higher level. They were clueless before (in many cases, this is very true). And now, they think that all ECNL benefits will accrue to their dd's because they are now on this Elite thing. The light will really come on if the Oregon teams are forced to play solid to top ECNL teams. Idaho will give them a false sense of security. The FCP teams are about to find this out in a few weeks when they travel to Arizona.

Still way better than anything the TA has to offer. Look at U14. FCP #1 in NW. Best TA team #13 and dropping. The talent has decided where it wants to be. Why don't you TA lemmings just accept it for what it is and simply enjoy watching your DDs playing lower level Bootball?

Nope only Thorns got it. Just wait and find out.

Prior to ECNL announcement all the TA clubs were screaming from the mountain tips that because they were affiliated with the Timbers that they were receiving the invitation. Now they aren't in it the league is crap, too expensive, and you can all the exposure you need by playing FWRL

Anyone that reads T/S very often knew this. There was a 180 degree shift from we need consolidation, ECNL would be a great option. After the ECNL announcements, the talk changed. All you see is that it's too expensive to travel, you can get exposure anywhere, You're going to lose every match, etc.

It's been comical to come on here and read the back and forth.

                          DD Full Ride

My daughter was recruited by several high level division 1 schools. There are very few girls that get full scholarships. Some of these teams have girls in the national teams. There are only 14 scholarships to divide up between 22-30 girls. The only full rides in women's sports is volleyball and basketball. My daughter is committed to a d-i school for next year and she is receiving 50%and we have to pay the rest. We have done club soccer since she was in 4th grade and we would have been better off putting the money in the bank and it would have paid for 2 full years at Oregon. At the end of the day its women's soccer. Only parents with girls that play really care about it, the rest of the world could care less. Being a d1 athlete is not all its cracked up to be. Instead of living your athletic fantasy through you daughter get some perspective and stay off these blogs bragging about something you could never do. Support your daughter and enjoy the short amount of time she has left playing soccer.

A solid argument for not play any competitive soccer.

However, she didn't get any academic money? You chould consider yourself lucky most don't get pure 50% their Freshman year. That's why if you look at most of the rosters of college girls out there, they all have very high GPA's.

We're not doing it in the hopes of getting a scholarship, if it happens, that's just gravy on the biscuit. But it may open doors to schools that might not be D1 athletically, but superior academically (which is more important). She does it for the challenge, the love of playing the game, the camaraderie and at this point, habit. We encourage it, for those reasons and because it makes her be accountable, teaches leadership, it builds self confidence. (she is very comfortable with who she is and that can be huge for teenage girls), she has become savvy about time management (she's busy as hell), and on and on. ECNL or even club soccer is not for everyone. That's O.K.

Finally, I do find it humorous all the whining and complaining about ECNL now that it's here in Oregon. As the previous poster has shown, it wasn't that long ago when everyone thought it was needed to take soccer to the next level. The comments on here were ALL about consolidation. Now that it's here, whomever and their club that didn't get ECNL feels the need to try and poke holes at it. It's pretty damn funny. The train is leaving the station, get on or go home. Either way, it's here to stay.

This endless justification of the ECNL price is stupid. It will go on as long as you keep trying to argue back.

Any consumer making a buying decision looks at the total cost, including options etc...you wouldn't buy a car without the wheels.

What I get confused by is all the people who argue their "elite" solution is "no more expensive than". If it is Elite it should be more expensive shouldn't it? You are not going to get a Ducati for the same price as a moped.

If you are still uncomfortable with the price you are paying that is your own junk to work out.

The elite club league only clears a couple hundred thousand per year profit. If you break that down it's not much per player.

Look at the product you are getting for your investment not how much the ecnl is making. It's a pretty good deal in the larger picture.
