    ECNL = scholarship

    You read it here people. More and more lies from Tom and Fraser. Desparate to keep their numbers up. Pleading with parents to not leave. Guaranteeing scholarships. It's all happening.

    No one has guaranteed anything, but you will certainly be seen by more coaches by playing ECNL. Players are receiving offers that they would not have received without ECNL

          the person that started this thread has an issue.
          the person that said what they said above is not completely wrong. YOU DO NOT NEED ECNL TO GET LOOKED AT BY COLLEGE COACHES!

          If you want your DD to get into college then watch their grades. GRADES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN HOW GOOD THEY ARE AT SOCCER!

          If you want your DD to get into school then have them persistently send out their resume with video edited materials constantly....it's about being persistent and having good grades

            How good do grades need to be? Is 3.5 good enough, or do they have to be closer to 4.0?

              I can tell you after going through the process that grades are important! However not more than important than being very good at soccer. If you can't play at the D1 level than your grades will not matter. However if two girls with equal abilities are being considered and one has the grades and one doesn't guess who will get the offer. It becomes simple economics at that point. Grades allow the coach to spread more of the 14 scholarships around or maybe pay more to a girl who is really talented but doesn't have the grades for academic money.

                Grades plus SAT/ACT score make up the academic money in most cases. I would not want to be lower than a 3.5!

                  If you want your DD to receive a soccer athletic scholarship, then soccer prowess is paramount. If you want your DD to obtain an academic scholarship, then grades are most important. Saying one or the other is more important is just plain ignorant. No decent soccer program ever watch unsolicited videos from anybody. Just the ones you may not want to be a part of. Two WCC coaches, not top programs, told my DD that they get up to 1000 e-mails per week during season. They don't read most of those either. Many coaches will at least open an e-mail about a specific tournament they intend on attending. Topic sentence like "Surf College Cup November 26-30 schedule" or something like that.

                    Never promised that by Tom or Fraser you are just stirring the pot.

                      Sorry but I have to disagree. More potential D1 careers have been ended because a player didn't have the grades to get accepted to the school of choice. As a college coach is looking through a team's book they will only consider players with a reasonable chance of being accepted to their school.

                      Yes there are cases where a coach has really pushed for a player and has gotten them in, but this is extremely rare.

                      The other reality is the practical side. If you are a good student and don't get recruited or "make the team" you can still go to the school. If you sacrifice your grades then you are dead in the water before you even get started.

                        Another ECNL miracle. It turns lousy players into college soccer players. Plus, where are these offers? It's pretty much out there who is committing and there have been very few. Very few.

                          If your dd has a 3.5 she isn't going to be very attractive. Not good. Tell her to work harder.

                            Apparently being good at soccer is important so we know why Tom and Fraser didn't promise you anything. Going to be a lot of disappointed parents after ECNL. Making ECNL here is t like making ECNL in other places. That 90% is going to be more like 40% in Oregon.

                              if you look at the current ECNL clubs they are constantly updating their websites when players are getting picked up by colleges. Does FCPDX and Oregon Crossfire not have the infrastructure to post these things or is no one getting picked up?
