    NW Professional Development

Under at least one analysis, the NW is very good at producing pro soccer players by US standards (cite; recently posted in Washington Premier forum).

Analysis is done on a per capita basis; based on that criteria Washington and Oregon are extremely efficient in producing pro soccer players.

    Rankings:

    #1 Washington: 3.09 per 100,000

    #2 Missouri; 2.6 per 100,000

    #3 Oregon: 2.32 per 100,000 people

    #4 New Jersey: 2.06 per 100,000 people

    #5 Hawaii: 1.87 per 100,000 people

    #6 California: 1.71 per 100,00 people

    #7 Maryland: 1.7 per 100,00 people

    #8 Virginia: 1.67 per 100,000 people

    #9 (Tie) Pennsylvania & Colorado: 1.41 per 100,000 people

All from Westside, before the Timbers.

This area has a number of good coaches who have devoted their lives to this game. Powers that be have also done some things quite well over the last 15 years. Let's hope they continue to do things well in the next 15 year.

Westside didn't need the MLS to have a badass boys program (nor did Eastside, or Clark County). From my vantage point I wonder if the Timbers and adidas have gotten more out of the TA than Westside, Eastside, and WA Timbers.

With time though, hopefully the Timbers USSF Academy teams will take it to the next level.

Regardless, there is plenty to celebrate in terms of soccer talent in this area.
