Has anyone heard about this? Anybody registered for 2015?

    The OPL Cul-de-sac Cup

Each April, the Oregon Premier Council hosts the OPL Cul-de-sac Cup. This is the end-of-the-soccer year capstone event, before tryouts in May and the soccer year begins anew. The event is a U11-U18 competition, open to only Oregon-based OPL teams, with winners earning a chance to compete in the US Club Soccer National Cul-de-sac Cup.

All U11-U14 teams are seeded in brackets based on the order of their finish in their Fall Cul-de-sac League, which is the main competitive league for those divisions; the U15-U18 teams are seeded firstly based on the previous year’s Cul-de-sac Cup semi-finalists, then based upon current Winter League standings through a pre-determined date, usually the start of Oregon Spring Break.

The OPL Cul-de-sac Cup does not have a roster freeze during league play, allowing teams to play all league games using the full flexibility of US Club Soccer and the OPL rules regarding guest players during league seasons. This gives players the opportunity to play up, and for coaches to use second team players in first team games, and vice versa, as a great developmental opportunity. Clubs ARE required to submit Official Rosters for Cul-de-sac Cup prior to the start of the tournament for certification; however, this DOES NOT impact team rosters for league play.

    2015 Format
The 2015 OPL Cul-de-sac Cup is a competitive tournament taking place at the end of the competitive calendar, beginning the weekend of April 11 and concluding with Finals weekend on May 2-3. The tournament is designed as a traditional Cul-de-sac Cup competition, with group play progressing to knockout rounds later in the tournament.

The tournament is open to U11-U18 teams. U11s will play a 9v9 format, while the U12-U18 will play 11v11.

The tournament entry fee is $500. Registration will open February 1 in Team Pages and via club registrars. We do not have open registration on our website.

    Eligibility Requirements:
All teams must be have participated in the OPL Fall or Winter Cul-de-sac Leagues, as bracketing depends on order of league finish and competitive viability within the Cul-de-sac league.

Looks like good competition, similar to the OYSA Timbers Inbred Hillbilly Cup.

The cup even looks like a cul-de-sac.

Only about 150+ teams entered. Winners go directly to Nationals Cup in Indiana. Not a bad gig. Too bad your TA club is just a puppet and aren't allowed to put their teams in best league for each team...

                U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18--8 Divisions for Boys & Girls

So 16 different Cul-de-sac Cups to compete for.

You believe there are around 10 teams signed up for each division and gender already?

                Funny the cul-de-sac leagues don't even have 10 teams registered at u15, u16, u17 & 18 this winter.

Are the Washington, California and Idaho Cul-de-sac leagues sending teams to the Oregon version, to get the numbers up to 10 team per division at the High School ages.

                Nice try :)

At least OPL doesn't have to allow WA teams just to get competitive groups...

Careful. Lots of OYSA teams having taken a lot of thumpings from OPL teams this year.

                          That's a good point.

The OPL doesn't have to worry about having any competitive groups.

They don't have any 'groups' of teams registered for the Cul-de-sac cup.

                          Well said!
