What does it mean for SUSA and all participants if they run a tournament without sanction? Last year PR and Fury tried running NSWSS tournament in Feb/March and it was canceled due to no sanction.

Primarily, the players, coaches and refs are not covered by the sanctioning bodies insurance policies. If somebody gets hurt and decides to sue the coaches or refs, or even another players parents, those people getting sued are on their own. Where if it were a sanctioned event the insurance company would pay for the lawyers and cover any settlements (to a point).

Secondarily, licensed assignors are not supposed to be involved in securing referees for those tournaments. This is why things like indoor leagues and summer leagues that are not sanctioned usually have various in-house staff refereeing as opposed to licensed referees. That isn't to say that some rogue licensed refs aren't going to take the opportunity to make some extra bucks by participating in unsanctioned tournaments, along with whatever unlicensed people they get to help cover the games, but they are taking some personal risks by doing so.

If you aren't following local health restrictions it usually invalidates your insurance

Some ridiculous scores. After a team is being trounced by a half dozen goals, why not switch the offense with defense or play all the subs or shoot with weaker foot or something?

why even put such matchups in the tourney? By showcase age the strength of the teams is known. What is the point of such a match?

The point is these cases is to collect the tournament fees. No other reason to play such a mismatch.

Rosters are also different so kids can showcase so you aren't playing the "regular" team.

Teams don’t know who they will be matched up against when they register for a tournament or showcase. And pulling out once schedules are posted usually results in a financial penalty.

There are 2 issues as I see it:

                        1) it is up to the tournament organizers to ensure that they get enough teams to create even divisions/brackets. They should not pad the tournament with their own teams if the other paying customers are not at the same level.

                        2) It is ridiculous to win by such at outrageous number of goals. As the other poster says, you keep playing, but to just keep pounding in goals is bordering on being a sore winner. This isn't a pro game -- it's teenage kids. I blame this on the coach more than anyone else.

Just seems pointless and entirely predictable. IF you take the money from these teams - give them more appropriate competition so the players can showcase. That is what they are paying for.

Clearly it cant be perfect in these difficult circumstances, but some of these match ups are just useless and a waste of time and money for every player and coach involved.

In these times no club should sign a tournament agreement if there isn't an opt out clause because your state won't allow you to travel. Hell even the airlines are letting people change their flights without penalty and we know they never do that. Some things are completely out of people's hands.

Some of these scores are just ridiculous. Why bother? And most of them are the SUSA teams trouncing other teams. What's the point? While coaches don't care about who wins a game, they also can't tell a thing from a game that is completely unbalanced when one teams walks right through the other.

                              People paid for this? Dumb.

With teams pulling out at the last minute (either because of restrictions or parents pulling their kids) the organizers had to work with what was left. Yes they probably should have cancelled, but the teams who came should have known it was going to be a weak event. They didn't "have" to go either. If a team is trouncing another, the coach should dial it back, give bench warmers more time, switch players around to other positions etc.

What's so dumb is there will be no cases that result from this event unless players/parents were hanging out together a lot in tight indoor spaces.
