Funny enough there was a team in my daughter's age group that was going around beating up on low level township teams in those edp tournaments this summer. Literally no high-level club/well known town teams were in these things. Most of those teams were barely practicing but this team was winning all of these tournaments in the top bracket. As soon as the season actually started, they started losing. To make up for it, they've been playing in crappy tournaments to grab gotsoccer points. Needless to say, their social media pages are still going on about their high rank. While a high rank could indicate a decent team, don't take that for granted. Do you research.

At what age should winning be important?

Even worse they tell these later dismissed kids that they are “college” level players yet they do no work what’s so ever to prepare and develop these players for that level.

Just think the more players they bring in the more their jobs are secure and the more $ they make.

The answer to this question is, "It depends". When the players happen to be in a winning team, parents start feeling winning is everything and start complaining about players they consider as underperforming. When it is their own players cost the team, these same parents will start talking about winning isn't everything.
When the parent is also the coach, this gets even worse. The coach's own kids must be the superstar in the team or the team isn't going to be a team.

Winning is everything no matter what age 8 or 18. Your either a winner or a loser it's pretty simple! If your not winning then get better, it's called work! Don't put in the time then results won't be there

introducing the mentality of playing to win should start to be slowly teached at u13/u14. No coach should be "coaching to win at all costs" It should be a slow process and only used sporadically whenever opportunities present themselves. So by the time you hit the high school ages u15 and up the players should have a good understanding as to why not just how.
