First they try to poach THUSC DOC - get what they were trying to do, didn't work, but hey worth a shot.

Then they add 2 HS coaches. Putting aside the conflicts issues for a second, mechanically how does this work - girls DA is supposed to train 3 to 4x per week; 1-2 games per weekend. How can a HS coach possibly do that during HS season? Thorns have no Portland opponents - 50% of their league games are out-of-town and more than 50% of their games should be (assuming 1-2 showcases).

Gaff is also DOC at Eastside. How can he serve as DOC of a major club, coach HS, coach girls DA all at the same time?

Asking these questions from an ECNL club, so assume biased. Just watching how hard Thorns are trying to recruit, how much badmouthing we've lived through over the last couple of years from SOME alliance coaches (others continue to send their players to ECNL), and wondering how exactly is this suppose to work.
It's obvious they were scrambling at the last minute to put together something resembling a coaching staff. Didn't work out for them, but no unexpected from the Thornz Girls Debacle Asylum.

Why would they guarantee spots to B teamers and pine riders? Are their mom's hot?

Probably because those are the only ones interested. Top players have choices and don't need GDA

US Soccer says try out fees prohibited. Thorns are charging a very large fee.

US Soccer says minimum required 4 trainings per week. Thorns say only 3.

US Soccer says no high school activities. Thorns say maybe.

Assumuption is that they might rally once they get a chance to review the rules and have some time.
Thank you for the honest assessment.

Actually paid attention to Thorns Academy in the first year; however, then (as it appears now) some things just didn't seemed thought through.

Thorns Ac really needed players last year. In order to get them to sign on for academy last year, promises were made for this year's GDA?

Are you really that dumb? Do you really believe everything you hear?

Since when have they even gotten close to producing a pro player? What is their incentive for producing one? None. They can't sell the player. Top players aren't even in this country

Are they still without an 03G coach? Shoddy of RH to pull out after announcement.

Not her fault. Her board told her she could do it, the reneged after parents complained.

                      There are no "rules".

Exactly. The sole purpose for the Thornz Academy is that Timbers want to control everything by running the ECNL clubs out of town. Hasn't worked yet, and you could easily argue that the ECNL clubs have become stronger because of it.

The GDA has more to do with US Soccer wanting to run ECNL out of town then the Timbers.

It just presents a nice opportunity for the Timbers/Thorns. You are nuts if you think the two Oregon clubs have gotten stronger because of it.

I have a feeling once they get kids into the program they will ban all high school sports.

No difference between a Timbers lemming and an idiot.
