I've always said that the only way soccer will improve in this country is to make the sport Cheap & more exclusive. And there is a need to have 1 league for ages U13 and up. One league, one division. All these Rec.type brats will no longer have teams. And making it exclusive will atract more sponsors and every club will want to get the best players only.
That is one way to look at it.

Another way is to flood the market with skilled players through plenty of training opportunity to all interested individuals. Let the fittest survive the competition, let the cream rise without manipulation from "Professional, Qualified" coaches and criminal mob clubs.

Well let's all calm down after all who really cares. We are just trying to give our child an advantage. So the DOC get rich and the coaches get rich and fill there ego with half truths no big deal. In the end the wheel has been invented we are not going to redesign the wheel again. So go to a club that fits your needs if your child is rec go to a club that plays all. If your child is cometive go to a club with an academy or one with three teams for the age group. Look the world is perfect your kids are being dumbed down to allow the less skilled players to catch up the world is a scam the best never get a head socialism rules America.

So are the parents supposed to define who belongs on a team ?
Thank goodness at the best clubs they don't.

Because for the most part the parents who post here would pick the kids who could best win the trophy now (only) rather then who has present as well as future potential based on skill work ethic smarts physical maturity or lack of etc.

My kid when he was little would be the one you wouldn't probably pick -acknowledged as most skilled but smaller and less strong. Not dominant at the time physically.

Now 7 years later is very well known player, yes academy and well beyond. Thank god for coaches and the nice parents who give these young kids with a good touch the chance to develop and be challenged, on a challenging team, like they do in all the soccer playing countries.

recently moved from an area that offered rec through hs; so it sticks out as odd.
