Actually the ED of clubs need to find a way to pay their own salaries, normally when new they start firing anyone that makes money on the club then go and grab any money from rec.
How they will be driving nice cars without that?
Other is they create as much as "Competitive" teams as possible, even when they know these teams will have absolutely no chance to be successful, tell all kind of BS for these rec players and their parents to make them play on these teams, then they charge 2 arms and 2 legs for it, get the money and put on the car.

Maybe you have seen a budget but it doesn't mean you knew what you were looking at. Or your club charges way too much for rec.

My kids have played both, and the rec fee we paid, as part of a big competitive club, was minimal with uniforms included. Clubs use 2nd and 3rd teams in their competitive program to fund top teams, but not rec. That isn't to say they don't try to get rec players to round out the lower competitive teams thereby getting money that way.

It doesn’t take a huge amount of vision to say that the club that gets its players only by rec as a whole has any kind of future ahead of it other then Div 3.

I got an idea put all the DOC personal out on the field and put them against your U18 squad and lets see how the DOC touches the ball and builds the ball that will be a laugh.

Problem is that soccer here is just a PAY-FOR-PLAY sport. It is the sport that rich kids can just pay and they'll be on a team and play tournaments. Regardless of their skills. Just have the money and you'll have a team easy. And that is why you have all these leagues and divisions. It is an expensive Rec.League!
I've always said that the only way soccer will improve in this country is to make the sport Cheap & more exclusive. And there is a need to have 1 league for ages U13 and up. One league, one division. All these Rec.type brats will no longer have teams. And making it exclusive will atract more sponsors and every club will want to get the best players only.
