It will be interesting to see what happens going forward to the NPL teams. I have a D playing NPL and she (and our family) has no interest in DA. Nothing against it, I just find it unnecessary for our family and our D wants to play HS anyway. Issue is if most of the NPL team goes DA, we will probably leave SUSC for a club with a stronger NPL program. That's top of game for our girl so we want her to have the best experience possible. Selfishly I wish Seacoast never brought in DA but I'm glad it's working out for some.

Depending on your age/location, might be tough. I agree the NPL teams have been a bit decimated.

We are in a 'wait and see' approach. We may swing back to an NPL team next year, depending on HS. I know some are planning on a "one-and-done" approach, and I know of some NPL players who want to do it next year that didn't want to this year.

I expect the rosters will shift a bit, and there is a hope to keep bringing in players to get the pool bigger (already seeing it happening). So, a deeper pool overall will drag the quality for both programs up.

I do agree the NPL teams (I only am familiar with one, so painting a broad stroke here) are a shell of what they were.

Based on what? I’m not being aggressive - simply asking for details that brought you to your opinion. What was your experience last year? Did you attend either or both? Is this something others are telling you?

I attended both GDA and ECNL showcases last year. It was, overall, equal for exposure. Winter GDA showcase was better attended than ECNL but that flip flopped in the spring and things were equal in the end in July since one was played the week prior and many coaches attended both. Not sure why that would change this year?

By a quick spot check, I counted 153 coaches at the last ECNL showcase I can find, and 421 from the last DA showcase I can find. That 421 is a bit misleading as there are a few programs who sent more than one coach, so that disparity isn't accurate. Yes, there were some similar duplicates in the ECNL, but I didn't notice quite as many. In the end, I'm not saying there are 3x at a DA vs. ECNL, that's silly. Only, that there are more, and still plenty in both.

Still quite impressive to put 150+ coaches into a single location for a few days and should not be discounted.

I only know who were on the lists that I looked over for both "leagues" and the showcases (plural) I could find. I only took the time to count one because, well, who really gives a ****...

And, as mentioned several times, lots of attendees going to both (both boys and girls colleges were listed in each) and it's an impressive list no matter which one you end up in.

You must be new to soccer showcase tournaments. I can name a dozen events with more than 150 registered coaches.

Nope, don't care at all. I am giving a compliment to ECNL, but you can't keep your hands off your own dlck long enough to see it's not a contest. It's obvious you are quick to get the ECNL dig in there you can't even realize it.

I don't even have a dog in this fight. I've been nothing but complimentary to those who are a part of an ECNL club in my reply. Really, it is impressive so you should take it as-is.

Who cares? Both offer great exposure. coaches know no one league has it all. They shop talent, not leagues. If your player doesn't have what they're looking for it doesn't matter what league they're in.

Lots of coaches for sure, but devoid of top quality (even I am surprised at how many schools are here, but not the top ones). I would have thought that they would have got better quality.

Lots of coaches for sure, but devoid of top quality (even I am surprised at how many schools are here, but not the top ones). I would have thought that they would have got better quality.

I wonder how it compared to last year. Supposedly college coaches weren't blown away last year or with how GDA is going thus far. They certainly know there's plenty of talent to be found elsewhere. Having several top clubs pull out of GDA isn't going to help either. Reports from CASL and Disney were that coach attendance was better than last year.
