Saw Edward Opoku play in PDL. He didn't stand out. He wasn't a difference maker

No way he's a Generation Adidas caliber.

Different poster here. Have seen Eddie Opoku play multiple times and previous poster is spot on about this kid NOT being Generation Adidas caliber. While he is very quick and has good feet he is entirely a one footed player and is absolutely useless on his left foot. He also is very undersized and easy to dis-possess off the ball by more physical players. Finally, he has no ability or desire to track back and play defense. This was a favor to the UVA coach at best.

Some don’t want to face the facts. Consider the number of boys from the local area called into any level of the NT over the last 10 years and compare that with th number of girls. Not even close. You would think that would cause many to look at the local clubs and start asking why instead of trumpeting some fringe local player getting a two second look at the beginning of a weeding out process. Congratulations to the kid and his family but if that is all we got around here we should be rolling our eyes.

Girls soccer is painful to watch. The rest of the world has passed us by.

Maybe so but considering the amount of money being spent on club soccer these days, shouldn't that earn some criticism? And the girls programs are producing what are considered "top level" players at a significantly higher rate than the boys programs are. It's rather sad to read how some on this site continually want to applaud this bs and drop the bar lower and lower so they can make a buck.

Oh please, let's look at some facts. The REAL WNT will be playing next week and I count 0 local players on that roster. Maybe SM will sneak into a camp here and there but 0 is a good number to stay with. As far as the men go, Geoff Cameron has far more CAP's than all the MA girls you could dream of.

Looking at making a pro soccer league, the boys here have to compete against players from the countless nations that see Men's soccer as their premier sport. The combine is loaded with them. Girl's soccer is the US and a few other countries. The top US college woman soccer player had to move here because she had no place to play in Brazil!?

Looking at college soccer, the men's teams do far better in the NCAA's than the women. Not a single women's team from New England even made the NCAA's this season. Pathetic! Two local boys, Leon Brown and Scott Caldwell, scored goals to help their teams win the Championship in recent years. SM did win it for the girls.
Go back to your girl's threads!
