Men's and women's Olympic basketball teams should be put up in similar hotels, get the same per diems, same quality of training facilities, same quality of trainers & medical. The NBA & WNBA are a different story but Olympic teams should get the same treatment across gender for the same sport.

If being an Olympic athlete or national team player is the determining factor in getting equal treatment, then all Olympic athletes should be getting equal pay regardless of sport. The figure skaters and curlers have as much to do with men's soccer as the women's soccer team does.

It's faulty logic to break it down by sport when men's and women's team have nothing to do with each other. That brings us back to popularity, competitive landscape, and revenue to determine the pay per athlete.

Difference is the MLS was an investment with a payback. NWSL isn't. No one pays to watch the games. Even in Portland you pay many times more for Timbers tickets than you do Thorns tickets. Even the Timbers 2 team makes more money than the Thorns.

I think everyone is in agreement with you and why people agree with the current pay rate in NWSL. National Team is a different deal. If revenues are similar for organization pay should reflect sameish as well.

Revenues aren't similar though. Men bring in 10x the money in World Cup winnings and TV money.

Not really. Only in this one particular year when the women won it all, the cumulative affect of that path came close to the men. Good work ladies! that's hard to do. But contracts and deals are not built on 1 great year. You have to look at history and future potential. In the end, everyone knows that men generate more money because it is better caliber of soccer. Not complicated. Treat the women fairly but let's not lose sight of reality.
