Soccer Terms for US Citizens: (and green card holders)

Field ~ the place where practices and games are played........not pitch, which is done in baseball, or drips from trees.

Uniform ~ An article of clothing that designates what team you play for.......not kit, which is what you when you purchase a model.

Cleats/Shoes ~ These cover and protect the feet while playing anything soccer related.....not boots, which you wear when you go hiking, working, or are in the military defending this great nation.

and last but not least,

Soccer ~ ........not Football.


So don't be fooled into using this slang. It just makes you look like a poseur, unless you played there.
