First nugget of truth, not playing in HS allows for player development and improvement. Preach on! Think Globally and act locally.

US Soccer appears to not be interested in the social connections or the holistic development of kids. Look at the men's national team. Very talented, but boring, dull, lack creativity and they get thumped. In addition they all look pretty unhappy.

Watching the USMNT is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Painfully boring.

Other states are letting kids do both this year.

States don’t decide. US soccer decided to let players do both. The local program didn’t communicate that.

The problem is that if you let kids go play with their high school friends they tend to start hanging out with them and that can be problematic. Then you have 18 kids on your roster but 6 of them don't come back after high school. It is simply unacceptable unless you solve that problem. If you carry a roster of 25 then you have a lot of kids that don't get to play or travel and you face the wrath of parents. It's a catch-22.

You are correct. States don’t decide. US Soccer has been going back and forth on their own rules.

It is really up to the DA Club.

Even if US Soccer allows, some clubs may not.

If the clubs make an exception then they are less competitive during the Fall and carry a huge roster in the Spring.

HS is about the 'W" with the level of coaching provided.

Just an FYI DA Timbers are moonlighting (no practice in HS some cases) and these teams are not even blinking about the no show training..yes this true..OSSA doesnt care HS AD's don't even want to be bothered with Soccer in the Fall.

The DA is also about the “W”

Only people who lose all the time say they don’t care about the “W”

                    That is a positive development.

Anyone have a solution to this?

That is a problem. Kids don't get better if they don't get to play in games. So you bulk up the roster so that half your team can play high school and then when those girls come back you have a problem. So you have a weak team in the fall and you have drama after that. You can't win for trying.

I don’t think this is true. US Soccer said no. Local clubs said “we’re doing this and you can kiss our backends”. US Soccer demured, mumbled under their breath and slunked off to eat a microwave Stoufers lunch and another meeting with “consultants”.

Consultants is code for former soccer players who don’t want to get a real job.

This is not totally true. Kids can do both at the same time. Nobody really cares. Just watch you will see DA players in HS playoffs. Bring them on.

Ok, where is your game report of da players in the high school playoffs?

It is pretty clear that most of the best players in the state are playing high school.

There are plenty of good players playing on the thorns too, but not the best.

If the Thorns Academy truly wanted to get and retain the best players they would drop the silly ban on high school sports.

                                Just my opinion of course.
