The club they gave GDA to will struggle to attract players - it's not a strong club (NPL now but they already have an ok BDA program) and the no high school rule is a deal breaker for many players. I suspect this scenario is playing out elsewhere. Now that there's clarity on the structure, competition, travel, costs, and most importantly player interest (or lack thereof) plenty of clubs are having 2nd thoughts. Even if GDA becomes the top league, it won't be a clear winner and things will vary at the local level. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

      CT lurker
This from bottom feeding ECNL Clubs... btw it was GDAP that said no thanks, they picked the right club in CT

meant to add I can't believe many GDA clubs are happy about this least minute team addition. Here they've been planning on three teams, now they need four, requiring more players, more resources, coaches, fields, expenses. All for something that's completely unproven and was already starting out with a heavy blanket of skepticism

And now that Thorns have to field 4 teams instead of 2, the already low quality of the Thorns teams will only plummet lower...
So they became the Carolina Flash instead? Big deal.

Huh, since the GDA is top shelf of US Soccer Development Academy structure, for the best of the best youth girls in the US going forward, why would Crossfire Premier send any 'b' team players onto this platform?

When they could instead just play locally and compete.

Also, given the rigid and high coaching requirements of the GDA what top coach at Crossfire premier would give up coaching the best players to coach a 'b' team. That's where your theory goes south.

Finally, Parents of 'B' team player are only gullible and naive enough to spend thousands and thousands of dollars only travel in the suburbs of Portland at clubs like FC PDX, LOSC/THUSC to be fodder.

Unlike educated and competitively savvy parents in the sound area.

I like your sense of humor, and as you know, all humor is sourced from extreme internal pain and suffering.

          Can feel it.

A club with about 6 girls teams, the best of which couldn't win OYSA 4th division. So, a perfect match for the Thorns Academy.

Did you know that SU has an ECNL team, in addition to the GDA team? Probably not.
It used to be SU girls when to XF or WPFC, b/c they had no choice. But now,
XF should be worried about SU and their draw. If you had any idea how the RCL
                    system works and feeder teams.

Eastside might be able to keep their best girls for GDA, especially with their connections with French.

SU will draw girls from Snohomish, Surf, and other north of Seattle clubs.
XF will need to compete for the same girls. Also ISC gunners can pick.
Probably PacNW can go either north or south to WPFC.

So Eastside Washington will be the powerhouse GDA team? The same Eastside club whose 01's got thumped 3:0 by the Salem Bootballers last weekend? Their 99's are good - but those girls are already recruited and aren't gonna throw away their final year of HS soccer on a debacle like GDA. Try again.

By breaking this trance, with momentary clarity or insight, magically your once finely honed penmanship skills will evaporate and you can be set free.
Outside of Southern Cal, Girls DA travel costs are going to be higher than ECNL - guaranteed. Clubs dropping is creating holes for DA.

Their 99's are good - but those girls are already recruited and aren't gonna throw away their final year of HS soccer on a debacle like GDA. Try again.
You are talking about eastside wa which has been one of the top clubs in wa for past 15 years. More college placements then the Ecnl Oregon clubs way over. More state titles in a state where Oregon Ecnl teams wouldn't even make it to semi finals.

Eastside wa is 10x the club that either of the Ecnl Oregon clubs are and even those clubs wouldn't dispute that. How did you get so full of it?

In the pay to play model--you do have to cover all your kids travel and club fees for sure.

In the US GDA model in Portland the costs are subsidized significantly by the Portland Thorns NWSL franchise and few other MLS/NWSL teams have taken this approach to ensure quality squads and quality coaching, which is beyond a miracle given it's girls soccer. So happy.

We shall see how it plays out for tryouts after state cup. And after our EPD teams
crush your ODP teams and alliance teams or whatever at friendship
Understand the SU/XF/WPFC world far better than you do, I'm sure. SU will continue to lose their best players to XF. It happened this year even though SU has ECNL. And Eastside is a shell of it's former self. It had 1 good team but they've graduated. Again, best players from Eastside move to XF. This is why XF will be one of the half dozen clubs in the nation with teams in both ECNL and GDA. The rest will have to decide this spring. SU will go the GDA route because they know they don't have the talent to play ECNL.
