Originally posted by Unregistered View PostSo how desperate is Weston. On there site it says they are having an ID camp for the academy... Really my guess its to drum up money. Went to tryouts a year ago and play a whole month and at the last cut they say no. OK with that but sad they don't remember any of the kids that go through tryouts and keep an eye to see if they grow or become better. So to me this sounds fishy. So what they will take the Boca kids that are running from that program. This won't help Weston

Who cares they are both the same. VP running things into the ground. He does not pick for skill or soccer smarts. He picks (just like all DA's in South FL) for here and now. Its about winning. Something they are not doing this year and looking at whats left after this year will get worse. And yes Kendall Boca are the same it is how physical you look and play. So if you go have your kid dribble all over head down and push as many kids out of the way. DA is not afforded the time to develop. Just look at the problem as a whole. You need to win before developing its that way across the board.

Was one that tried out a year ago and told skill was great but not strong enough or physical enough. Well now we have 4 D1 schools interested from one showcase and will be hitting a few more this year. They liked his skill and his soccer IQ. So with Victor P in charge please don't expect them or him to pick skilled players. Won't ever happen. program will go downhill.

Weston is deep with solid players compared to all except established MLS DAs. They have the same ratio as everybody else's top players. There style of play is bad so they don't compete well when a team has even talent. They miss roughly 4-5 players each year because of politics, mistakes, and defections because of level training. Many top players realize they must be in a pro academy to make it. What remains is still solid just nothing special like it could be.
Weston is still just a big travel club with deep benches and good talent. Training is solid not great. But, better than most clubs where training is horrible. Boca Training is generally comparable if not identical with some coaches. The difference is the talent pool and lack of depth. You can't compete well with only 3-5 academy level players.

Yes but what age? most likely younger because they want to keep adding so as they get older they can shaft the kids and drop them to the reserve then black team. everyone keeps falling for it.

My other son is an 03' and hes a good player but it will be really tough to break into that group. It's probably one of their strongest.
