Looks Western NY were about to fold, but ended up finding a buyer (in North Carolina).

This is an example of how GDA will shake out at most clubs. Note the cost and travel.

Net is it will not bring economic diversity to the women's side. None of it is surprising. There's no money to support this program. Plus you have to been playing at a high level prior to GDA to have the skills to make a team. A low cost rec or travel program player isn't making GDA.

The info from the Virginia club actually exposes what I think is the GDA's biggest weakness. The requirements to be part of this program mean you give everything up. No secondary sports, no non-soccer extracurriculars (how would you possibly have time when you are practicing "a minimum of four times a week?"), no time for friends or the very important social aspects of adolescence and high school.
If your kid is the next Carli Lloyd - has that level of talent and desire - then all this sacrifice MIGHT be worth it. But the problem is there will be an estimated 5000 girls doing GDA and of those, what - 100 might become pro players? 10-15 might make a national team? Designing a program for 5000 kids that is really only ideal for 10-15 of them is astonishlingly stupid. And the only reason it has a prayer of succeeding is parental blinders - those 4990 families think THEIR player is the next Carli Lloyd. So she will give up everything because dad tells her she is the chosen one. And when that dream comes crashing and burning to the ground and she is no longer a soccer player...what's left? Not a well rounded person. But a person whose entire purpose and identity is gone. Good luck with that.

To me this shows they only want serious players. Compared to thorns academy where everything is a big mystery. Because they know if they lay it all out like this there will be a mass exodus.

Totally agree. To fill a system this big you need massive numbers of players and there's only so much talent to go around. Much of the talent will stay with ECNL because they don't see GDA bringing them much more than what they have now AND they have to give up so much. USSF should have tried to find a way to make DA (boys and girls) much smaller in order to focus on the nation's top talent. They could have used ECNL/ENPL as feeders into it. But no, they had to try and squash ECNL quickly. It's not going to help US soccer at all.

What is the "Pre-ECNL crew". Sounds like a South Florida rap group. Is Uncle Luke managing them?
