DD is a great athlete, tactically sound, but not as technical as the FC starters at her position, so coming off the bench. She gets good playing time, as FC has been very fair with playing time, but it has been a real eye opener for her. She talks about how the FC player s were tested regularly on technical skills and juggling, to keep them accountable. If they didn't show improvement the coach knew they hadn't been doing their outside and they lost playing time. This never happened once at her previous club.

Sooner or later when you match athlete vs athlete in soccer it's the one with the technical skills on top of athleticism that are more valuable. Good move on your part. I see the same thing at our club. New players come in and cant juggle or can't make any offensive or defensive technical moves to separate from players. Really kills the mojo when you cant receive, evade and distribute the ball.

But what people are questioning is whether or not those you FC academy kids and u10-U14 kids end up being the primary starters on FC's older teams. What seems to observed is that FC supplants their own kids with outside talent and then focus on developing that talent.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWhat people seem to forget is that, at the youngest ages, the potential talents are spread around the area pretty uniformly. This happens because most just choose the club closest to them. It's no different with FCP. In their Junior Academy they have just local Hillsboro kids. Some of them will be great one day, most won't, just like at all clubs. But there must be an inherent difference in that the top kids from all other clubs naturally gravitate towards FCP, even though they are often no better at "winning" at the younger ages than any other club. Maybe it's that the coaching at FCP really is a notch above the rest? Maybe it's because FCP has a history of always having top quality HS ages teams when most other clubs barely have HS teams at all? Maybe it's because FCP has a history of placing a large majority of it's graduating class into college soccer programs? Maybe it's just that everybody likes driving out to Liberty several times per week? (Doubtful). Whatever it is, the fact is that FCP does the best job of developing the talent they have, attracting new talent, and sustaining the effort throughout the entire youth soccer career. You can't say that about too many other clubs in Oregon...

[QUOTE=Unregistered;1535993]We'll see. By U15 Pacific won't even have a team. And THUSC might not even exist as a separate club outside of Crossfire United by then.[/
The delusional FC supporters are out in force already on this new thread. More likely THUSC will be kickin' their butts in this age group!

Well that team will not be together in 4 years, A-DOI. Which team will? It's like you can see the future. You should help solve murders with that talent.
