Unique situation where parts of Portland were shutdown for large populations of people, fields closed, indoor facilities either closed or full, roads not safe to run on and more than anything the transportation to get players to each other was not existent on a consistent basis. You're right about your sarcastic comment, but you're also neglecting that most of Portland was shutdown and this was true for most people and organizations for this bizarre time in the Portland area.

Either way. It happened soccer was bad. Results were bad.

U18G Westside Copa 3-0 on the weekend. Not as bad. Looks like their only big game was PacNW 99s.

Looking across the board, Oregon teams didn't do very well. Wonder how much the lack of field and training time effected their games against teams that have had more training opportunities.

Ecnl teams compete against far more skilled teams than those in the FWRL. Lower results in ECNL seems far more forgiving than low results in FWRL. Two very different levels of play. You should chat with the college coaches your daughter is interested in to hear their perspective to help guide your DDs path.

OREGON has NEVER produced consistent teams that compete outside of OREGON.

THIS IS A FACT and even your club coach wouldn't dispute this. (ECNL oregon coaches pretty much will tell you anything to get your money but anyone that won't lie to you will say this)

If you were to look at the history you'd find that even trying to compete against Washington teams, they would always get the butts handed to them. It wasn't even close.

When Northwest champions league was really good, they would put oregon teams against washington teams and oregon teams wouldn't even register a win or sometimes goals at all.
Top 12 teams in Washington would beat the Oregon Ecnl teams any day. They beat Ecnl teams around the country like it's a joke.

Every now and then you'd have a team that would compete but it was random based on the different clubs. FC portland never really had top teams at all so its a joke to think that they will now. But thusc would have one, eastside another year, and westside etc etc.

Now those two clubs signed on for their families to pay 10lk a year and flying to play teams that aren't very good or a few good teams (you can always find good teams to play) but they are forced to go when many of these teams can't even compete well in state.

Their parents will tell you that they are the best by default or because some great team from California beat them 9-0 that means they are just as good. They will tell you that some team from California had a lot of college recruits(same clubs regardless of the league and even their B teams will have more college recruits then Portland clubs) so that means they are going to get it to.

That reality is that those college recruits currently weren't developed by this joke of a league and many underachieved because of the terrible structure.

- They have to overload rosters to manage costs. You sign on and 1/4th of your team can't even play because they load the rosters to high. NO DEVELOPMENT.

- Terrible coaches think they need to win their mediocre conference which AS YOU READ ALREADY never have the teams to do it but they still are idiots and don't know what they are doing. So the kids that do travel many don't play. Imagine flying 5 hours to play a terrible team and come to find out your team can't do well and your coach thinks winning the game is more important than playing your kid.

- You pay 10k a year and come to find that most of the recruits as they have ALWAYS been from this area are going to local schools with coaches that recruit from everywhere and tell you that you didn't even need to do this in the first place (FACT)

- Your coach can't develop so they are stuck not being able to compete. SO they in turn try to sell this propaganda and send their parents who are ALREADY upset and anxious to either insult their way to the top or try to sell so they get "good" players in.

- They have rosters of 24 but for some reason their coaches bring in guest players to win games and tell their parents to recruit...WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS? Because many find out its BS and leave and coaches want to be able to not have to deal with people asking logical questions.

You can dispute this with your limited understanding of soccer in Oregon but you should know the truth. I would be very critical of the scam that is going around and how much your kids are not getting the development and attention they need because they want to use smoke and mirrors to get you signed up.

It doesn't matter what league your kid is playing in. You do not get the accolades that the top team gets in that league simply because you are their doormats.

You don't suddenly go from average in the state of Oregon one year to the best in the country the next because you waste your time flying to play other doormats or are the doormats.

Because one random team from a club gets college recruits that doesn't mean every team after that will especially if that team was developed in the way that is now being bashed and the current Oregon Ecnl model is broke.

ECNL continues to get the best players in the area. There isn't a non-ECNL girl that could take a starting 11 spot from my daughter’s team. No one thinks that their Oregon ECNL team is on par with the Top 10 powerhouse states in this country. Continuing to discredit Oregon ECNL based on their performance against the best female players in the country does not at all help your case for not playing ECNL. The fact of the matter is that it is currently the best pipeline to female collegiate soccer and affords the most eyeballs to see your kid play against equivalent Division 1 talent. mic drop.
