Copa Dad has not heard of such a silly thing.

Unfortunately, real estate in Beaverton is more expensive than land in Clark County, so building a private facility is probably not an option.

On the other hand, the new thprd park in Aloha is really nice. Lights, three turf fields, and paved parking.

That said, a reminder is in order that the game is intended to be played on grass. Whining about slow pitches at Powerlines, or the grass fields at Walker Road, misses the point. Turf is a necessary evil in our climate, but real soccer fields have the unevenness that Ma Nature provides.

How about getting the grass at the rec center on walker then if thprd is who you rely on for field space. It's DA and is supposed to be your top prospects and players coached by your top coaches! Why throw these top players out on a green belt with lines painted on it. The buzzing powerlines above just add to how pathetic it is. Only thing that could be worse would be using the bownet goals you threw out last year...

Keep hearing that Westside is just following the rule book when it fails to follow the same common courtesy that every other DA club extends to guests.

Well newsflash...the rule book did require clubs to provide a canopy and bench last year. Westside again was the only club that refused to extend the courtesy to guests.

Don't hide behind the rule book. It's a character thing...something Westside would need to have to see written in a rule book before trying to get one.

Are we really back here? For the umpteenth time, here is how it was and is. Providing team bench and tent to away teams was required last year. That rule changed. It is no longer required. Being the first home game of the year, it wasn't done. Interestingly enough, BSC had a metal bench the week before and WT brought their own tent. That was all good and we didn't have an absolute meltdown over it. Also note that Westside had a B team in DA last year, so most things were somewhat unfamiliar to this 2005 group. By the way, the B team did provide these items last year. Your accusations are false.

Rest assured, that it has absolutely nothing to do with WT being horrible hosts, ungracious people, having poor character, lacking class and whatever other ridiculous rationale was thrown out there. It's quite opposite actually. When Wash Timbers lost their composure, Westside did scrounge up a tent. Of course there was no working together, no thank you, no understanding on their part. Wash Timbers had an absolute fit over it, made a scene, went on a massive cyber rant and blew something so small and minuscule way out of proportion. Leading all the way to the muddy conclusion that this group are clearly a bunch of classless a holes. Couldn't be further from the truth.

Since that time, Westside has provided a tent and bench to each of the away teams. Westside also takes a tent and bench to every away game simply because it is not required. Read the rules and always be prepared. This now needs to be done and done.

I agree the tent and bench thing need to be done with now. However, you are wrong on the other part. Cony is a very good coach with more experience and qualifications than probably your entire staff combined. He has been with the 2005's for 8 weeks. Things take time and it's no secret there is a talent issue in a variety of positions. Will give you that he his an odd ball character, but he is an excellent coach. Will also give you that like all clubs (even yours), Westside has some organizational disfunction. This is youth soccer and it comes with the territory. So get off your throne and stop acting like some kind of elite, all knowing soccer king. And people say Westside as an ego..... listen to yourself.

This thread is perfect. People complaining about rough players and a lack of tents for their average kids to sit under while their average coach joysticks the game from the sideline (with powerade!). Polls of top teams that wouldn't be top of second divisions to the North or South. Fantasy lit that describes how awkward geeks who can't play for **** today will somehow blossom into halfway decent players so long as their happy and fulfilled. Then, as soon as someone suggests "you know what, this is all not very good", here comes a rush of pearl-clutchers to point out that soccer isn't important and that no one is going to be good anyway so just enjoy all the custom backpacks and tell each other how everyone's sons "are really good kids" oh but not the kids who, well, you know the types.

I have heard this said multiple times now...you had one really good player make TA, and thrn a scholarship kid with a nightmare Mother, an okay player who likes to juggle and pretend he is a tekker, and a little grabby player. If I was a Westside parent, I would consider that a success as well. Or would I?
