GA has only had 3 months. Everyone calls it a huge let down which makes no sense since it hasn't had a chance to do anything.

Agreed but why are so many clubs jumping ship or actively looking to get out? Not a good look in terms of confidence and long term viability.

Wow...really? Most of Beach FC teams were at the bottom and most of the rest except Utah Royals and Oklahoma were no better then middle of the pack in any age group. How do they not take clubs like Tophat, Cincy and FCV? Or are they going to pull 2-3 from every div to weaken GA?

We have a friend that went to PDA 07 team. It was a choice between a GA club or a ECNL club. Now they are complaining that there are 21 kids on the roster and no shes complaining her kid doesn't get playtime. They are regretting going to ECNL when they could have gotten on a GA team with less kids.

Let’s just say that if you join an ECNL team there are a few constraints to consider:
- ECNL practices 2x a week
- ECNL does not have coaching certification requirements
- ECNL allows 26 players on a roster (+ unlimited movement between teams)

If you care about development in these circumstances:
- make sure you get real training outside of the club
- make sure your kid can deal with immense competition between players
- make sure you never ever cross paths with any of the coaching staff

If you are not aware of these or can’t handle these - get your kid out. It’s not a place where you get developed, or supported or nurtured. A dog eat dog kind of world.

You hit the nail on the head about coaching certification. Without a doubt ecnl is good for getting your kid to college but my beef is this. The coaches at these clubs arent good enough. I know local coaches that are better than wc, mf and pda coaches but they don't coach at this level. These clubs rather collect money and scrimmage instead of hire real people. Disgrace.

Rutgers coach not good enough for you? Villanova coach not good enough for you? St Joes coach not good enough? All ECNL coaches and I can give you many many more...but fake coaches from England with made up resumes must really do the trick for ya. ECNL is by far and beyond miles ahead in every way shape and form as compared to GAL. EDP teams blowout GAL teams if that tells you anything. Just check out Real, Philly Coppa etc both with daddy coaches no less.

There are some very good college coaches. Then there are the ones that have been with the same school for the last 50 years. You experts realize that only in america is college soccer looked upon as great? The rest of the world doesn't even know who rutgers, nova and st joe's. College needs to change their policy with credits and hire A national licenses.
You also realize that the quality of college soccer isn't good right? Bunch of athletes that are technically poor. Thats why the top players you know the ones that actually love the game and dont see college as the end game are skipping college and going pro.

How in the world do you continue development with a 15 game three month season? College soccer!!! Wooo!!
