on paper, and they won't put a penny into it. all pay to play - with weak competition. the remaining few top clubs will move to ecnl (they're begging to get in). top players leaving in droves also, or the younger ones never joining.

stick a fork into it, gal is done

TH hardly resembles the club that was there last year. If not permitted back into ECNL they will continue to lose out on top players. Georgia clubs have passed TH and best players are moving to the ECNL. The GA competition is not good with clubs like WFF and USA, and TH B team and Wake FC. Kudos to the clubs for trying to compete with ECNL but the league will lose top players to rival ECNL programs. Claiming otherwise is ignorant.

But they are still the best GA club by a mile. It is really a sad league at his point.

They have managed to stay as the #1 in the region, regardless of all their internal problems, angry parents and frustrated players. That is why it’s so painful for them to travel and play mediocre teams. Not a single TH family is happy with gal. It’s not looking better for next season. They want out!

Will parents start another petition to get into ECNl like they did before? If Top Hat can't get out they'll lose any good player that can find another spot elsewhere. Then they have to fill spots with weaker ones, weakening they club and it starts a spiral. NEFC and a few others are in the same boat - kept out because they picked the wrong horse, politics and geography. If ECNL doesn't let them in it will be bleed into mediocrity

Maybe ECNL/GA needs clubs like Tophat to fail. By cutting down national powerhouses, it allows the talent to spread out. More clubs playing top level soccer and paying top level fees.

Talent needs to consolidate not spread out.

There are too many clubs and too few ELITE players as it is already.

The solution is a smaller truly ELITE League with less clubs and for them to be national powerhouses. Let the smaller / weaker clubs with less talent fail.

Of course that is the answer but clubs don't want that. Coaches don't want that. Soccer is $.

How else do you justify paying directors and coaches $100k per year?

That was the original promise of GDA, then it became quickly apparent they chose market share and $ over quality. They shot their credibility right out of the gate. By year one at least 10 top clubs were gone and it just worse each year after that. The competition got worse, prompting players and clubs to leave, which then got filled with weaker players and clubs etc etc etc. I think it's best to let things settle for 2-3 years post Covid before trying something else. People are burned out by all the bullshyte.

The clubs make up the league. Because all these clubs are full of crap, the leagues are full of crap. Sh it rolls down hill. When the clubs improve their quality of players development, the league will be better. What is so hard to understand. A bunch of idiots on here.

Your assessment is not exactly accurate.

GDA did lose clubs after year one. However, is was because of MONEY. It’s always about the MONEY.

                            1) Lots of clubs were losing players (money) because of the No High School Rule. They didn’t like that.
                            2) ECNL came in and offered the big / top clubs TWO ECNL teams to go ALL IN. More money in two “elite” teams at a club than one and ECNL was putting major pressure on clubs with both GDA and ECNL to pick ECNL or they would have their ECNL badge pulled and they would lose an “elite” team to market (money).

ECNL won the market share battle by adding teams and diluting the league. Creating exactly what they formed ECNL to replace.

GDA had the right idea with a smaller less diluted league. They failed to understand that girls want to play HS Soccer and how ECNL would parley that and ruthless business tactics to win the battle.

And the biggest reason is US soccer took all their $$$$ away from GDA.
So what is your point really.
